Why do people keep trashing Tech material on TRTN?

I for one think anything he does is a masterpiece, But everybody on here says things about his vocal changes, his flow, his (newer) lyrcis, his collabs, and his image. Tech does what Tech does. Let him do him. Don't discriminate over how he does his own stuff. He doesn't point his music directly at you, He makes it for EVERYONE that understands. So just sit back and enjoy the music. Listen to his story within the lyrics. It doesn't matter who he has on the track, who produces the track, or who makes the beat. As long as we all know Tech is doing Tech and not trying to rip off of Lil B or 50 Tyson, It's all good.

Personally I think Techs music has become somewhat redundant. I find myself skipping over tracks on my ipod. Not because the tracks are bad . Hell ,he is my favorite rapper but nothing really sticks out and warrants me to rape the rewind button aside from a handfull of tracks. His flow and delivery is onpoint as usual. Lyrically and conceptually we as fans are seeing a pattern that is repeated on every recent album that is getting tiresome in my opinion. A tech album always starts out with the a couple tracks about strange itself and how dope they/he is.  Followed by some more tracks where he basically does the same. (raps about rap) then off to the lovely ole party /hoes on my dick tracks . Peppered with a couple of introspective tracks which i love but at the same time most of them are about rapping and his career. If anything Tech has always stayed tru to himself through his music which is a double edged sword. If all he does is eat, sleep ,shit and breathe strange music and touring, then thats all we're going to hear about. Techs work ethic has shaped his music into what it is today and imo  it has become predictable. All that accompanied with   200 shows a year ,all the guest spots on interviews and other marketing obligations and a collab album and an ep every single year has made him the hardest working man in hiphop but it has also affected the overall quality of his artistry. It seems as if every album he releases has a million collabs from ppl just to fill in those two empty verse slots  to save time on a track that has to be finished by X date. Not saying all the collabs are wack but a lot of the time they just cant keep up. I think an ep ,a collab album and a solo every year from the man is too much music in the first place. Saturation is something that we see in the mainstream over and over again. It happens when an artist does a million songs in a year or when a fan downloads five albums a week. The music becomes forgettable and its on to the next.  Perfect example of that is exactly what happens on this site after every release. Tech album will leak or drop and day later theres a million threads about  what Techs next album will be or what date it will be  released!!!!!

Thats fuckin ridiculous imo. Half of it is because ppl have become spoiled to the point that all they care about is the

"next "release  and the other half might be because strange is modeled that way and doing anything less means less money. So if its money first then artistry ,then by all means carry on big homie cause that shit is apparently working.

If its artistry first then i really wish tech would just take time off of all this touring bullshit and live life a little, come back and shsow us his vision through some different lenses. Nawmsayin?????

Again this is all just my opinion. What the fuck do i know anyway. IM just a fan whose been  dropping cash supporting this strange movement since 98.  I deserve to have an opinion. This isnt any hate what soever. So if anyone gets mad #sorrynshit

First: Duke said it wonderfully, and brought up points I've been wondering about the past few album releases. With Tech usually on tour, AND dropping what seems to be an album every six months or so (solo's and collabs), plus all the tracks he's featured on, I think there is only so much an artist can do without recycling SOMETHING.

I would imagine, as an artist, Tech gets into a "mode", certain things speak to him, and fuel him. When he's putting out so much material within a short time frame, it seems that so much of it ends up sounding too similar, too "I've heard this before"...

The reason Tech became my favorite artist was because he had SO MANY DIFFERENT topics, styles, flows, sounds. The past year or so, there have been fewer "oh shit" moments with Tech. Fewer songs give me chills. Fewer songs come out that I HAVE to show to my friends. Yet, he's putting out what seems to be more music than ever. The few songs that have popped up in the past 4-5 months (Klusterfuk and shit he was featured on) don't catch me. Tech's flow is so similar from track to track that I get bored. The #1 reason I grew to love Tech's music was because of the VARIETY. We don't seem to get that as much these days.

As for this...

Alot of you are acting as if the recent Tech N9ne projects put out have been drastically below par trash... Get your fucking minds right and start to appreciate what you're given instead of focusing on what more you want. A6A7 and WTS were both elite original works of art in their own right. To the left you have fans nitpicking A6A7 for having too many major guest features and more mainstream appealing instrumentals. To the right you have fans nitpicking WTS for being quickly pieced together and over-saturating his musical catalogue. There's really no pleasing everybody nor should Tech be obligated to. As much as he does for his fans (i.e. multiple LPs and EPs per year, record breaking tours with meet and greets prior to each, performing for the troops free of charge overseas, and signing phenomenal new acts to satisfy everyone's musical taste) you would think conversations like this wouldn't even take place. At the end of the day Tech will continue to conduct business in the fashion he sees fit and create the music he's inclined to. When he says he's the complete technique of rhyme there's really no bullshit there. He's able to incorporate so many different styles and sounds within his work that the possibilities are truly endless. For someone to sit back behind a computer screen and bitch about his newer material not sounding a certain way or sounding too much like something they're unsure about is absurd to me. Tech's never disappointed us by not delivering before so I don't know why some of you would even start to think that he's about to, have a little faith in YOUR artist. Just STFU and enjoy the music you claim to support or please gladly GTFO by all means!

Sorry N' Shit

What's with this whole "appreciate what you're given" thing? This isn't like our parents are working two jobs a piece to put food on the table, and we're over here whining about wanting a Hummer. This is "Tech is stretching himself too thin, his work is suffering, and we are noticing."

The A6&7 thing has merit. Do you honestly think Snoop Dogg's verse on Pornographic was acceptable? How about Lil Wayne on Fuck Food? Overtime? You Owe like Pookie? Or how about the pledge being recited twice within the first three tracks? A6&7 was a good album. It had good tracks, with some good features, but overall it did NOT live up to all the hype.

As for WSL, the only knock I have is that most of the tracks start to sound too similar after listening to the album a few times. The beats change, but the overall vibe doesn't seem to, as much.

Nobody is attacking Tech for being a hard working artist who gives so much to his fans in terms of meet and greets, tours, signings, material, interviews, etc. What we are commenting on is that he seems to be slipping up. It's nothing crazy, but why not talk about it NOW before it actually becomes a problem? I don't want to wait for another 2-3 albums to come out before people start saying "Hey now, those past two or three albums weren't good, Tech." We see a trend NOW, why not talk about it NOW?

And to the whole "Everything Tech does is fire, and if you don't think so you're not a fan" shit. WTF? I'm a Packer's fan, but sometimes they make some stupid ass plays. If I get upset with them, am I no longer a fan? Hell no. What about people who are dating? Do you ever get mad at your gf/bf? Probably. Does that mean you don't care about them? No, it just means that they're doing something, at the moment, that doesn't sit well. If she kept fucking up, or if Tech keeps making stuff that sounds a lot like the stuff he JUST made, then I might start to lose interest. But, just like with a relationship, I'd like to hope shit can keep on the up and up.

YALL FUCKTARDS ARE LOSING IT BAD.....TECH PUTS OUT ELITE SHIT EVERYTIME HE DROPS A VERSE EITHER ITS ONE OR 3 OF THEM AND ONLY A HAND FULL OF US GET IT AND HES PUTTING OUT HIS LIFE NOT BULLSHIT HE THINKS HES GONNA DO OR DREAMS.....NIGGA ITS REAL LIFE OUT THERE AND HES PUTTING IT INTO RHYME FORM TO THE ABILITIES OF WHAT HE CALLS IT GOD STATUS..... NO OTHER ARTIST UNDERGROUND OR MAINSTREAM WILL GIVE YOU THAT IN OUR LIFETIME OR THE NEXT PERIOD!!!............LIKE HE SAYS(cuz they favorite artist is lame and neglects his fans he does do..but your favorite artist goes out his way to show you that that he loves you)CHORUS:i opened up my heart showed you what i had inside an ocean full of truth...to deep for the lies ya made it to the pain had to swim through the pride theres nothing else i need to servive OVERWHELMING!!! I'm like, BULLSHIT! Tech's MY favorite rapper because every single song he puts out is fucking GREAT! Nothing he has released so far is bad whatsoever. And practically all of the unreleased stuff is on the same caliber as the music he's deliberately put out.

i ccompletly agree with cameron...it deosnt make sense..hes finally getting noticed an now you want him to take a break? he finally has a whole month dedicated to him on MTV, not to mention his music videos have been showing on three different channels and i think he'll have plenty to write about cuz his situation is changing...but at the same time the dude has been working like crazy for so long i think he should take the time off to hang with his children..ya know?

Cameron said:

You are saying for Tech to take time off his career now at his highest point where everyone is looking at him now? Makes no sense to me..
B@$$EL said:

This. Completely. As much as I hate admitting it, Tech's stuff is pretty run down to the ground. Like there is only so much that a normal, opinionated person can handle before they get bored and start realizing the redundancy in a finished product, after finished product, after finished product . . . point being, I seriously think Tech should take some time off to flourish in his achievements. That will give him the opportunity to re-evaluate his career, and make a more wise decision on what should be his next business move.  And, really, it is a business move, because no one produces as many records in a finite amount of time as Tech and still calls it artistry. . .Its run-down! Go back to your roots of being inspired and hurt by living the life, and then go on from there. We want FUCKING art!!!

  1. Your musical taste isn't that of everybody's so although you may not have enjoyed certain features, songs, or album concepts that doesn't mean everyone shares your same opinion. I respect yours so respect mine.
  2. You entirely took everything I said out of context and even attempted to put words in my mouth (or text in my post... whatever you get the gist). The point I was making wasn't "Why is everybody attacking Tech?" but rather "Why is everybody downplaying Tech's recent solid material as if it were horrible?". There's definitely a big difference between them and I don't think it's an unfair question to be honest. I actually thought that both A6A7 and WTS were huge highlights of 2011 for not only Strange Music but Hip Hop in general. With that being said I stand by what I said when I mentioned that people should start to more appreciate the legit cuts Tech continues to give us and do less bitching about the path they'd like to see his musical career head in. Obviously he's among the most talented emcees of all time for a reason. I'd simply just like to see people have a little more faith in Tech and not be so quick to doubt or slander his music the way they do. Most of the time it's ridiculous borderline disrespect to an artist they claim to support and believe in. I'm all for people voicing their opinions but if they're unable to express a legitimate reason for why they feel that way, other than cosigning someone else's view, then in my eyes you come off as ignorant.
  3. I don't know how in the blue hell you related your parents, the Green Bay Packers, and your relationship with your girlfriend to Tech N9ne in any fashion whatsoever. Half of your points revolve around your own personal opinion and while I can respect that the other half is just mindless rambling which makes your entire standpoint just seem unintelligent.

Good points from everbody.  Ive been satisfied with his albums lately. But Im worried his fanbase is following the juggalo route, which is you automatically like and support anything with a strange logo on it. Over time the effort in the music will go downhill, because well hes gonna think " Fuck it they'll buy my shit any damn way".
