Both, even though they're decent, have been overrated for a long time.
Permalink Reply by Bizzaro on January 30, 2010 at 3:03pm tthis thread has been bothering me all day. i still cant believe all the fucking people on here saying tech is bette than 2pac, get the fuck off of techs dick. tech is a fucking beast, one of the best today, but no one has even came close to 2pac. he was the realist motha fucker in the rap game, everything form his flow, to his style, to his lyrics, and the meaning behind it all. on top of the message he sent in his music. seriously, u all musta been born under a roof of shitty music when u were growing up. go back and listen to all of pacs shit and get off techs fucking dick.

Permalink Reply by KirbyTheAlmighty on February 2, 2010 at 1:34pm Both got way more hyped up then they should??? In what sense are you talking about?Maybe if they were put on numerous "greatest lyricists of all time" lists i could see your point. But when it comes to timeless music then by no means are they overrated. There is a HUGE difference between a great lyricist and a rap artist.I think ppl forget to seperate the two.Lyrically both Big and pac have been outshined on thier tracks but that doesnt nesseciarily mean that who ever can rhyme more complex than them is the better artist.Take method man for example. He is easily the more complex artist when you consider the literal dynamics of rhyming. But when it comes to emotional complexity and cultural impact ,it becomes a no brainer that Pac has meth by a long shot.Ppl forget that Pac was able to write and record hiphops arguably most flawless and most successful double disk lp in hiphop history in only 2 weeks. Not to mention the rest of his catalogue which includes classic upon classic release.Jay z,outkast and a handfull of other artists have been able to release top calibur albums within thier careers as consistently as Pac but pac's entry and stay into the limelight only lasted about 4 to 5 years untill his death.Thats insane if you ask me.Lemme use one of your favorite mc's in the same way.Artists like the entire slaughterhouse rap group are more complex rhymers than Brother Ali if you break down the structure of thier rhymes into the basic categories like alliteration, wordplay, metaphors, similies, and types of delivery. But when it comes down to who is better at making full rap albums with better concepts ,deeper/cultural importance and who is basically sonically superior? Then my money is spent on Brother Ali first and foremost. But music is all personal preference and thats just my opinion.
