Yeah, obviously my whole post went over your head. The Abyss seems to have understood it fine.

Many does not mean all so don't take offense if it doesn't apply to you, no harm intended. Many folks on here are more Tech fans than they are rap fans so that is where I was coming from. I guess I understand the whole Shinoda thing better now but it still makes no sense to me. I am just a fan of rap and not much else. There are a few groups of other genres that I like but I love rap music and some people on this site have no clue about the true pioneers of rap.

dude wasnt really saying shinoda is a better rapper than tech. he was stating other shit that he does other than rap that makes him a good "musician" all around but lyrically...no he is nowhere near tech. and it was just one guy that mentioned him so i dont know where u get "many of you dont know a whole lot about rap" from.

Mike Shinoda? Are you really putting him in the arguement of best rapper? It is obvious that many of you don't know a whole lot about rap. The only thing I've listened to for the past 25+ years has been rap and this is an impossible question to answer. Do you judge the best rapper on influence, album sales, flow, lyrics, overall music ability and so on. There is always the element of personal tastes also. I think Tech is definitely in the top 5 (mine at least) but there is no true clear cut answer. But Mike Shinoda? GTFO with that bull.
That's a good point, but that sounds like stuff that Travis is in charge of. There's some interview that talks about the business of Strange Music, and in it Tech says that Travis is in charge of the entire business side and Tech just focuses on music. I don't know for sure, but everything you mentioned sounds like it would be on Travis' side

you are also leaving out. that tech started his own label from ground up. including merch, booking his shows, getting distribution contracts, and features for his album. all on his on. not saying shinoda doesnt cause i dont know much about him, but u should at least thrown that in there if u are talking about everything outside of rapping.

I think Tech is the best, BUT for the sake of argument: Mike Shinoda (in case you dont know, he's the rapper from Linkin Park and Fort Minor). I'm looking at this matchup from an "overall skill" standpoint. Now Tech obviously has him beat on flow and probably on lyrics, although Shinoda can hold his own on both. But Shinoda can do it all. He can rap and sing. He plays guitar and piano. He has produced all Linkin Park's albums. And not only did he produce every track on his Fort Minor album ("The Rising Tied", extremely underrated album), he actually played every instrument used in making the beats. He also did all the mixing engineering for all those albums. He does all the album artwork and other art for his projects, and his artwork has been used for large gallery art shows.

Basically, the whole point of that was to show how although Tech is an amazing rapper, his (and the majority of rappers) overall musical talent pales in comparison to other artists
when it comes to lyricism no one can touch him, but when it comes to actually making SONGS hes not undisputed.  personally i have eminem GOAT and then i got tech at number two. eminem lyrically is a fuckin monster and he knows how to make really emotional and great music. PLUS hes a extremely underratted producer.  Now tech has these quailites as well obviously but tech dont produce so i give it to em. But NO ONE else can touch tech. not jay not wayne not even biggie or tupac. lyrically hes just TOO MUCH
Not over my head by ant means. The post is greatest MC not musician so you seem to be the one with the comprehension issue. Anyway, Shinoda sucks balls.

Mike Shinoda is an MC. Therefore it fits into the discussion perfectly fine. And are you going to back up your opinion with reasons, or are you just throwing that out there thinking that I care what you think about him?

1. 2Pac

2. Tech N9ne

Even Tech would say Pac is better. Strange Music all day all night.

Yeah he probably would say that, but it's still not true.
It seems that I'm the only person who absolutely cannot stand 2Pac.
SHINODA SUCKS BALLS?
