Single above: Beautiful Music (feat. Krizz Kaliko)

also...does young bleeds cover reflect anything as to what the album is about?  is he a hamburger patty?  with techs artwork you can tell right away that its about him taking you into his world.

its not like its awful...its definitely not his best.... but can you really see somebody walking into best buy thinking about buying tech n9nes new cd but being completely turned away because of that artwork?

And Tech will gain new fans because that will be conveyed via the album covers? In order to gain fans, you have to get that crucial first purchase. Good cover art encourages it; bad artwork discourages it. Music advertising 101: images affect sales.

the point i'm making is that it doesn't matter because tech is worlds better than young bleed anyway.

The point isn't that they'll be completely turned away; if someone goes to the store or hits up iTunes for Tech's new CD, they're not going to say that it's not worth it after they've set the goal of getting it just because of the cover. They're already invested in the product because of the time and effort they put into getting it. But if you've got a casual rap fan browsing the shelves for an impulse, "let's check out something new" purchase, the artwork really sways their dollars.

Sometimes, it's even more subtle than that. Let's say I go to Best Buy to get...Twista's new CD (not that I personally would, it's not worth it, really. I just pirate his shit.), and I've heard that Twista did some dope shit with Tech years ago, or he shouted him out on Twitter or something. Lo and behold, Tech's new album is right next to Twista's on the shelves. If the cover art is really attractive (read: advertises the product effectively), I'm way more likely to walk out of the store with 2 CDs than just the 1 I planned on getting. If it looks cheap and hints that the product itself might not have high production quality, I grab Twista's CD and say, "Well, maybe I'll check out Tech N9ne some other time."

Great cover art is about getting those "WOW, that looks cool! I think Imma cop that" sales. If people buy into your imagery, they'll snatch up your product. There's a reason we have the expression "Don't judge a book by its cover." People do it all the time. It's why advertising has become such a gigantic industry. You don't even have to know what the actual product is (a la Young Bleed's cover), the point is for the image to sway your opinion ever so slightly.

i understand what your saying...i just don't see it as that big of deal...but keep in mind its just a collabos album, and we should all know by now that tech doesn't really go all out on collabos so thats another thing to keep in mind.

ever think they based the lost cities banner on the album cover?

lol cover is just the lost cities banner ad guess they got lazy with this one thats ok when youre putting out that much music
You're definitely correct in alot of marketing aspects but you're acting like the cover is complete trash... Sure it's not the greatest album art ever but I think people are being overcritical of it simply because it's damn near identical to The Lost Cities Tour banner. Nobody was like, "WTF is up with The Lost Cities Tour promo?! I hate it!" So now that it's being used for Welcome To Strangeland it's a different story? The tour's promotional package/advertisement will be taken down permanently after it's over within the coming months whereas Welcome To Strangeland will last and is a part of Strange Music history now. I was a little disappointed with the choice also but I don't absolutely hate it and ultimately it's Tech's vision for his album so I'm happy with it. The bonus song is fresh as usual so I'm expecting big things from this upcoming project. The music is always first and foremost the key factor to success, which Tech always delivers with ease.

Compare this:

To this:

Which looks more professionally done? If you hadn't heard much music from either artist before, which would you think had better music on it? Appearances matter.

Not that hot of a track. It's okay, but Tech has MUCH better material than this. Maybe it'll grow on me later. We'll see.. Can't wait for the album though.. Releases on his birthday..
Am I the only one batshit impressed with that first quick verse and all the p words?  The hook could have been better but I thought this was fuckin great

Also found this just now.  Pretty Dope.

"Yates! Imma put this space, this place, all up in ya face / Picture me paintin' pretty pussy with a pen and pad and pickin' a pair of provocative peaches to press to the pace."

Yeah, that's a fantastic couplet right there. I understand what Khristopher is saying about Tech's flow not being at his pinnacle, but there's some greatness in this song.
