Okay so I went through the search and found some topics but nothing really what I was looking for with Street teams so I started this one, and besides they were kinda a mess. This is for the ADMINS/TECH SQUAD LEADERS/STREET TEAMS/MAYORS/ALL POWERFULLS/or whatever you title yourselves. I thought it might be a good idea for a place for a leadership roll call from the squads. I know how alot of yall are from the myspace TECH SQUADS, like NY, NOR CAL, Spokane, COLORADO, AZ, ETC. I've seen posts from others looking for their squads and how to get in touch with them and maybe what they have been doing, promo ideas, events attended, issues, SNIPES and such. SO this could be the place for that and for others looking for the squads of thier states. I'll start.

Idaho Tech Squad has received their promo packages for the Scoob/Strictly Strange push and are finishing up Genius/Sickology we will be out this weekend and the coming week hitting the Boise area. We have about 6 to 8 members at a time usually to hit the streets and friends of those members helping those squad memebers get the job done. I'm scheduled to promo at a lowrider show this saturday and will hav emy 64 ready to go once again. I did the Northwest motor fest boise car show over the July 4th weekend with 10,000 or so people attended the 4 days of the show of 2,000 plus cars. We were there making the Strange known for the event. We have also used the promo tiles and attached them to wood stakes for road side signs and have worked pretty well (Like the Politicains do for elections). We also have are usuals of SNIPES, stores, records stores, etc out there. We also helped with the tour that just came through for Souljah from the western part of Sickology tour as he just finished up his tour date here a couple weeks back. As admin of the Idaho Squad for the hard work of the squad I got them embriodered polo shirts with strange music on them so when they are out to the radio station etc we have a cool professional look to get us in the doors. That is where we are at! S.L.A.D.A.N Where yall at?

I'm surprized you had a hard time finding me. I'm on here everyday and on myspace working on tech stuff. If you ran into me on the street or one of my guys I'm sure you would know. My guys are at the "office" on fairview every weekend doing promo work. I do get alot of guys who want in on helping and stuff but alot are out to get an in for themselves and not to help tech. So I'm pretty careful as to who works promotions for me, but I'm always interested in what you can bring to the table for us.
well im in tacoma, so i would say tacoma or seattle.

hey everyone checking in to see how everyone is doing. Strange is looking for to up the internet promos. In case you didn't get the email here yall go. Idaho is working on getting the facebook page up and running (thnx to cleveland).....Magic

Hey all,

Almost every street teamer and a couple promoters from markets where I do not have a street team are BCC'd on this. I have noticed, and I'm sure I'm not alone, that paper promo seems to have less and less impact every day. We will continue to pump our markets full of flyers and posters to ensure maximum exposure, but we definitely need to start start working other available angles - particularly online approaches.

There are a multitude of resources in each city - whether it's a local hip hop community site, the local weekly newspaper site, eventful listings (I know I have them for all of our tour dates, if venue's don't) - or even myspace, facebook pages of other hip hop artists in your area.

As far as paid advertising goes, the promoters or Strange (on rare shows) will provide some money for Facebook, Eventful Features and other pay per click advertising - STREET TEAMERS DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT.

What I would like all our street teams to focus on is creating "buzz" around the show online - it's similar to when you go to a club and start flyering and within a few minutes someone is trying to hand you a flyer to go to the show (means you did a good job) - we should see similar results online - get on any relevant site and look for opportunities to comment or otherwise start conversation around the show (if the show isn't listed, see if you can submit the show for posting on the site). A perfect example of this is on Eventful or Facebook - each event listing has a comments section below it that will allow users to add their own thoughts to the mix. On Eventful, if we can "organically" drive up the activity on our show listings, it will automatically get the tour date pushed into the "Featured Events" category and start being included in their email blast to 10,000 or more people! The more activity we can nurture for our event listings anywhere, the better. Please write back if you need more help making this happen in your markets moving forward. As I said, there are a ton of available sites in every market - here are a few examples from KC. Thanks!

I have a myspace for my team to use to promote
Nice, thanks for the update Magic! Much appreciated brother. I'm in Tampa FL, Tech will be here on the 16th, I'm pretty sure we don't have a Street Team but I'm VERY interested in making one and or joining one and have at least 5 dif people who will back me too and be involved.

Is there any place to make it an *official* Street Team, or does it matter? I was thinking about having a mini gathering at the show to at very least introduce whoever wants to be part of the Tampa Team to each other but I'm not exactly sure on how to go about doing so.

Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Cheers,
Raphael
talk to crossed joe at your show aka Josh. he's the dude out selling Cd's in the line and stuff. He can maybe get you hooked up. Tell him Zach in Boise Idaho told you to talk to him about the Tampa tech squad. The myspace pages have (or should have) if they are offical a strangemusic inc email and log in address. They are set up through the office and then the area admins like myself go in answer messages, get friends, post picts in the albums, bulletins and such.

That's kinda how it's set up I guess.
