Mac Miller is a trend that will die out in a few years. yes he's indie now but he'll get a deal and then people will lose interest in him. and i doubt he'll tour as much as Tech does which is another factor

I was actually just thinkin' not too long ago that this is the perfect era to rise as an indie artist. I think Mac might drop one more indie album 'n then sign but regardless, Idt he'll break Tech's record. He'll def outsell Tech first week but that's about it, although I'm sure someone one day will overthrow Tech...

plus realistically i can put up with mac miller because he isnt good but he is so much better than other mainstream guys so I go a bit more easy on Mac (still dont like him but is no shitty drake)

There's no way Mac Miller of all rappers will knock Tech N9ne off the throne of independent music, Hip Hop more specifically. Don't get me wrong I respect what the kid's doing but if you take a look at some associated acts, such as Wiz Khalifa and Nitty, that have been recently signed with Rostrum Records they've all moved on to ink some huge distribution deals with powerhouse labels such as Warner Bros, Universal, and Atlantic. So technically he's moving impressive units as an independent artist currently but the label he's under isn't one that's been known to hang on to many of their top dollar artists as of late. More than likely he will release his debut solo Blue Slide Park independently under Rostrum, make a tremendous amount of profit/recognition followed by getting snatched up by a major.

You have to look at the fact that Tech is only dropping a Collobos album too. Tech gains more fans everyday, as I'm sure Mac Miller does too, but in order for someone to out sell Tech to be come #1 independent, they're going to have to platinum an album. That is of course only my opinion. But every step someone takes to get closer Tech takes a step further with selling albums. He does have the upper hand with how far ahead he already is independently.

Has there even been a tech album that went platinum or gold for that matter...

 

Mac Miller wont always be indie, I dont really like his music that much anyways.

no there hasnt. collectivly tho he has sold almost 2 million.
