as far as me not knowing shit about tech, u couldn't be more wrong. the guy is a major influence to my musical career and i was afraid i'd be looked at as one of the cats he made "come gangsta" about (that songs a classic, btw)...but some of the newer stuff is just unbumpable as far as cruisin down the 101 and smokin a fat blunt goes. but then again, he rarely makes music for your general hip-hop head anymore, and thats why this topic was brought up

I could give a fuck about a "general hip hop fan," I'm looking for musical ingenuity...sometimes he's rappish, sometimes he's rockish, sometimes he's hunterish, (most of) his shit's got quality for a variety of different reasons.

"General" hip-hop is that shit you hear on the radio, general hip hop sucks (fuck a Lil' Wayne).

I have been disappointed with Techs last couple releases and this was going to be the first album I didnt buy. But this song has changed my mind about purchasing it. I like it but I dont think its a great song. What it is is unique, reminiscent of his older music while still being current, and intriguing. It gives me a lot of hope for the album and his future releases.

I have been a hip hop head since the mid nineties. And I listen to hip hop of all styles and sounds. I think the "weird" stuff tech wakes is what sets him apart and makes him in my opinion the best emcee in the game. He has so many styles and flows and they are all different from anything you will hear from anyone else. He keeps evolving and keeps coming with new sounds and I love it. He delivers dopeness a high percentage of the time imo.

That's a great point. I mean how could you even, right?
Havn't you noticed over the coarse of great rappers that Everytime they try to think outside the box that they always end up putting out crap. I could give a bunch of examples but I'm sure the average fan knows what I'm speaking about.
I just wish there was more sticking to the script of giving people what they like, which is why they blow up in the first place.
But when your putting out the amount of music the Tech does you have to appeal to everyone or you get A. Played out. Or B. Have to limit your releases so that you don't.
Tech has been putting out alot of bs lately but I'm just in the crowd the doesn't like that kind a shit. I'm very happy about the way Boling Point Sounds. So I have no room to bitch if as long as he keeps puttin dope shit out, which he is.
Thing is...
It's such a rarity, this might be the first independent rapper ever who once they put out that outside the box bs they can still make dope music too.
I gotta tell you tho..it was getting close..if he hadn't a dropped Boiling Point so soon after the last 2ep's I think I might have lost a little faith in the man.

^good post. dont get me wrong. tech still has the ability to produced good music. and who knows, maybe "boiling point" will be good. I actually thought "KOD" was great. but hearing the first single for "boiling point", i gotta say, it was disappointing, and sounds nothing like "KOD"...hope the rest of the EP does.
