I don't remember which interview I saw it in, but it was a recent one where Tech said that he performed in front of very small crowds (7 people, back in the day). He came back and the crowd doubled, and tripled. Before he knew it, he was selling out shows. He was spreading his name and it clearly paid off.

That being said, the vast majority of his touring takes place in the United States, where he is already well known. Doesn't anyone find that this is reeking with redundancy? Sure, it gets him revenue, but seldom gets him new fans. If he sells out small venues everytime, I guarantee it's the same people coming again and again, tour after tour. The people going are already fans.

In countless interviews, he professes "you gotta get out there and politic". Well, let me ask you: when was the last time you saw a politician (striving to be known on a global scale) campaigning over and over in the same places? It's not a smart use of your time or energy if your quest is to get your music out to the rest of the world. It's like putting up posters of yourself all over the city, coming back the next day and putting them up again in the same place instead of another city.

At this rate, if 8 or 9 tours out of 10 end up in the US, he might never get his music to the rest of the world. I understand that it's comfortable to tour the same cities over and over again, getting money. But that is in direct conflict with getting your name out there, on a global scale.

In that same interview he said he would still do a 7 person show, I would like to see that. Sure, he might not get as much money touring (hell, he might even lose some), but in the long term this would mean a more extensive fan base.

I'm seeing people here that are on their 8th show, but a lot of fans out there have not even seen a Strange Music show because they stay in the US most of the time. In my opinion, that is an uneven distribution of touring.

Which is it Tech? Hip-Hop President or U.S. Tour Master?

The reason he's well known now and getting the mad album sales is because of extensive touring in the past. He toured and recruited fans. I'm saying that there are areas (even in the US) where only a handful of people might come to a show and he could profit from touring those areas. Like I said in my original post, at the expense of losing money now, he stands to gain way more money in the future if he keeps going to places where no one has heard of him.

Where he tours probably has to do with the demographic of people who like him (aka album sales) in the area.
If he's not getting mad album sales somewhere, they don't know how many people will show up, and I dunno if Tech would really want to perform a show for 7 people overseas when he makes most of his money off of shows and the cost of getting there and setting up the show would probably lose him money if the show was that small.
Well, Tech wants to be the hip-hop president, not just a hip-hop politician. Trying to get Obama status in terms of politics is his goal; right now, he is at best governor of a state.

Obama status isn't much. not many world leaders like him coz his policies haven't changed much from Bush

But many world leaders know OF him. Right? I'm not talking of Tech having Obama-like policies, I'm talking about Tech having Obama-like exposure.

If more people are coming each time he is gaining more fans....
this is a fact motha fucka.
Say a venue has a capacity of 2000 and 2500 people want to attend the show. How can he accomodate them and get his stage show to those 500 extra people? True, he is gaining fans, but at a stagnant rate. He could get more fans by exploiting untapped areas instead of fan-saturated ones.

He is doing that?...Why do you think he goes to small places around major metro areas? Then more people show up to the bigger cities?

Right. But there are only so many fans you can get by doing that. He stands to get more from touring in places where he is not well known.

Think of it like this: If you are selling out a show in a major city (or even a smaller area), your job there is done, as far as spreading your name goes. Yet, he continues to tour these cities practically every time.

He lives in the US and that is where his family is. It is (for the most part) safer to tour in familiar places. And is more expensive to tour so much globally. I recently went to my first Tech show in Cleveland and before Tech came on, Scenario, asked the crowd who had seen a show before and who had not. It seemed like about half of the people there hadn't seen a show before. I think right now he is more concerned with working with more talented artists and getting his name out there that way. Just some FOOD for THOUGHT
everyone knows that president of the U.S at their time lol
