"Rockabye"

“The beats sound nothing like anything you’ve ever heard me on. The features that I’m going for are something you would never imagine. All I can say about it now is that it’s a very human album. What I mean by that is that it’s contradictory. On one song I say, ‘The saint is ours’, like we’re in the saint’s corner and then I have another song called ‘I’m Not A Saint’. It’s so beautiful because the King, the Clown, and the G are still present on this album.

There’s no apologies in what I’m saying. I don’t mind that it contradicts itself because that’s what people do.  The album is everywhere. It feels like it’s Hell, Purgatory and Heaven all over again. I’m telling stories that I’ve never told – that I was afraid to tell on some songs. It’s super personal and I’ve got a big chip on my shoulder again. It’s always been there, but it’s getting bigger having to prove to fans and critics that we ain’t goin’ nowhere.” -Tech N9ne from SM blog 2/8/13

"Tech was literally dancing in his seat with excitement about the new album and some of the featured artists on it. He couldn’t say who they were, but he did explain that the album will be broken up into three distinct sections — Fire, Water and Earth.

Fire, Tech said, will have darker tracks, but the CD will finish with a heavenly theme in the Earth portion.

“I’ve got some heavenly ‘We Are The World’ shit on this album, swear to God,” Tech said.

As for Water, Tech said he hasn’t quite decided, but possible themes might be partying or confusion." -DailyWIldCat.com 3/29/13

it would be awesome if they did pre order deluxe versions an regular cuz alot of us do pre order.an id be willin to pay a lil more rather than just tryin to go buy a deluxe

I completely agree with this man. Also The albums come signed and I would much rather have a signed copy of the deluxe edition cover. Its a lot cooler and would look sick with an autograph.

Who tf is Jay Rock?

Been listening through the Independent Powerhouse Tour sampler since it's night of release and I'm very enthusiastic in regards to the entire roster's forthcoming projects. In particular, each one of the Tech N9ne clips as well as the full length song in "B.I.T.C.H." all seemed promising. Just my two cents on what I've been digging from "Something Else".

  • "B.I.T.C.H." initially stood out at the instant the instrumental really kicks in. Suddenly you're amidst eerie choir echos and dark keys with heavy bass. I loved the opening bars, very provocative intro to draw you in. As the song progressed I was treated to various styles and cadences that everyone's grown to love from Tech N9ne all precisely strung together within his verses. There were a couple of moments in the track reminiscent of URALYA in my opinion, also pretty clever acronym and concept. Really true when you think about it's root intention. T-Pain did the hook justice and seems to be a perfect fit for a beat slightly similar to the likes of "Fuck Food".
  • "Fortune Force Field" hit home deep for me personally as I (as well as nearly every American and so on) are forcibly extorted by our own government on a daily basis. Take that fact and multiply it to the tenth power to get a glimpse of Tech N9ne's situation through his eyes, thus this memoir of his comes to fruition. His raw emotions are easily translated through his voice and tone throughout his bar delivery which I really appreciated. The chorus performance was damn near flawless and was very Alternative/Metal-esque. Looking forward to hearing the finished product.
  • "So Dope"has quickly provided what is becoming one of my favorite Tech N9ne verses almost instantaneously as it truly does it's title justice by leading you to the conclusion: That... Was... SO DOPE!!! The intense tempo of the instrumental provides the pitch perfect playground for him to do what he does best, chop the beat. Yet the most impressive aspect of the song really lies within the rate of speed at which he pulls off his continuous multi-syllable flips while simultaneously correlating the entire verse as a build up to the ever-so addictive chorus (no pun intended) which pretty much embodies the entire concept. I'm curious as to which artists he's bagged for the features. I feel as if this instrumental would compliment Eminem's flow quite nicely and would love to see this much anticipated collaboration play out here.
  • "Thizzles" was almost tongue in cheek for me in many ways. As a former ecstasy connoisseur, I can appreciate the vision behind creating a hype song to boost your journey down Molly Lane. Although now clean, I can almost feel the excitement one must succumb to while chanting "Thi-Thi-Thi-Thi-Thizzles" along with the distorted instrumental sample. Happy to see him paying homage to the late great Andre "Mac Dre" Hicks not only through the blatant title but during the intro as well. Also a newfound fan of Danny Brown so overall this song could very well turn out to be a gem in disguise for the Strange Music catalogue.
  • "Meant To Happen" is a prime example of what Tech N9ne can accomplish when he steps a little outside of his own comfort zone and takes a chance on a completely new sound/style of artistry. This song was a gigantic highlight of the entire sampler, it was refreshing to hear him spill out his heart on an instrumental that is timeless to it's core. Scoop DeVille has now dished out his third epic success in the past year claiming production credit on this new song, "Poetic Justice", and "The Recipe" (both Kendrick Lamar songs). Keeping my fingers crossed that Tech N9ne will continue reaching out to him for future releases.
  • "Dwamn" had me laughing from the get-go as Tech N9ne brings out the clown in full effect as only he can. As previously mentioned in the thread, this song has all the characteristics of another hilarious 816 Boyz banger. Hearing the Kevin Hart reference for the first time was honestly more entertaining to me than it probably should be for some reason lol. Pure gold, one of my favorite segments from his entire stand-up act. Tech N9ne for the win!

Nice review. I'll have to take a closer listen to Fortune Force Field.

Looks like track with Yas would be on Yas album not on "Something Else".

That's why i didn't want to confirm it. The only song he would be on is WWC2 and he isn't a chopper.

Where the fuck is Blowfly?!?!? Someone needs to hit Tech on twitter about getting him on the album. He said he was going to put something together with him.

" 4h

We're NOW premiering new single B.I.T.C.H. featuring | "

Shade45 supporting Tech again.

And Eminem will NOT be on So Dope. As of March 12th, Tech was looking for a new beat to try to get him on.
