“The beats sound nothing like anything you’ve ever heard me on. The features that I’m going for are something you would never imagine. All I can say about it now is that it’s a very human album. What I mean by that is that it’s contradictory. On one song I say, ‘The saint is ours’, like we’re in the saint’s corner and then I have another song called ‘I’m Not A Saint’. It’s so beautiful because the King, the Clown, and the G are still present on this album.

There’s no apologies in what I’m saying. I don’t mind that it contradicts itself because that’s what people do.  The album is everywhere. It feels like it’s Hell, Purgatory and Heaven all over again. I’m telling stories that I’ve never told – that I was afraid to tell on some songs. It’s super personal and I’ve got a big chip on my shoulder again. It’s always been there, but it’s getting bigger having to prove to fans and critics that we ain’t goin’ nowhere.” -Tech N9ne from SM blog 2/8/13

"Tech was literally dancing in his seat with excitement about the new album and some of the featured artists on it. He couldn’t say who they were, but he did explain that the album will be broken up into three distinct sections — Fire, Water and Earth.

Fire, Tech said, will have darker tracks, but the CD will finish with a heavenly theme in the Earth portion.

“I’ve got some heavenly ‘We Are The World’ shit on this album, swear to God,” Tech said.

As for Water, Tech said he hasn’t quite decided, but possible themes might be partying or confusion." -DailyWIldCat.com 3/29/13

I'm pretty sure tech got the final say in what it looked like. If he Ok'd it, aint shit liquid nine can do if that's how tech wanted it to look. He's done some dope covers, and he's part of the strange team, I doubt they would just drop him for album cover. dudes been consistent

The tracks were okay for me. I liked parts, but not too much really got me all that excited. And some of the artists keep sounding like they are trying to be way too different. Kaliko used to be my favorite, now i don't know. I still like some of his stuff, but most doesn't click for me.

As for the album cover, I really don't like it. It doesn't look like it fits with his past album art and I think it looks like a weird fan Photoshop that tried to reference things too much in it. And I like to pre-order and support, but I can't if I need to wait for retail to get the deluxe of every album and especially if there are store exclusive tracks.

Well, I'm guessing Liquid Nine made a few different comps and tech picked the direction he wanted. You're right, they won't drop Liquid Nine. I have nothing against them. As a designer myself, I'm more so giving my critique of what they did here. Tech's a musician, not a designer, so I wouldn't expect him to be able give more than a conceptual idea of what he wants for the album cover rather than a cohesive design system for all of "Something Else's" print and web media.

More people are talking about the album cover than the songs we've heard from the album. Figures.

^Well, probably since Tech made a big deal about the cover. As for the song, not bad, didn't really have as big of an impact on me as some of his other stuff. There just wasn't that song that has that album defining sound. I remember "Blacken the Sun's" snippet came out like a year before KOD and it got me really excited for the album. The song was Tech but nothing like he did before. Last time I felt that would probably be with "WWC" and "Unfair."

lol right?

interesting. I thought Kicking and Screaming was light years ahead of his previous albums.

Seven is in awe of the feature they just got. Thizzles was produced by YoungFyre.

Really liking the previews

My favorite song off the sampler is kill for your love by krizz kaliko.

Part of me finds it hard to believe Liquid Nine did the cover art, they're usually much better than that. As far as the digital painting of Tech goes... it's rushed. Really rushed. They put most of the detail into the face, and the rest they just threw together.. I like the concept though, just wish the illustration was better.

My favorite tracks from the sampler were Anxiety Attacks and Meant To Happen. Dwamn sounds like an 816 Boyz track Overall I really enjoyed all the samples. I'm really looking forward to Rittz, Wrekonize, Tech N9ne and Mayday!

Tech N9ne Speaks On R.A. The Rugged Man, ‘Holla-Loo-Yuh’, Not Giving A F*ck [VIDEO]

When it comes to emcees other than Tech N9ne that are quick-spitting, hyper-intricate, and actually have something to say, it’s pretty much impossible to leave R.A. The Rugged Man’s name out of that short list, so it comes as no surprise that the hip hop Gods eventually brought the two together. On “Holla Loo Yuh” [...]
