Permalink Reply by EMStaz on June 12, 2011 at 1:08am Face it. Most of the rappers who are successful on the radio are putting out stuff with catchy beats, and things you can understand without having to "think" at all.
Generally speaking, people who lack a bit of intelligence, creativity, wit, etc are their target audience.
Not to mention, people like to be able to learn the words the first or second time they hear it. It's easier to jam out when you're fucked up, driving in the car with your "stunna shades on", or needing to update your FB status with some "dope lyrics" (Please don't do all of these at the same time lmao).
First of all, rhymes too much? Are people fucking stupid?
Secondly, he's uses the most complex rhymes out there..the line that got me into Tech was "fuck you, you treated me, stupid and conceitedly"...I was like "shit, I didn't know rappers knew 4 syllable words"...He's become one of my favorite performers ever since (and that's PERFORMERS, not just rappers).
And anyone who thinks Wayne went harder (or either of the former subjects) clearly knows nothing of linguistics.
I think the problems are: he raps too fast for them, he uses words they don't know, his references are too sharp, his structure is too complex, they're mildly retarded.
These are probably the same people who think "Cat Daddy," "Teach Me How to Dougie," and anything by Soulja Boi aren't complete fucking garbage.
just to add....IMO of course.....
i've never heard anyone hate on tech that like mainstream cuz of a few things: a- they've never heard of him, b- they dont care who the "best rapper" in the world is cuz they are probably 7 beers deep at a party dancing to mainstream music rather than on a thread like this (haha making myself seem lame in the course of posting this, o well fml), and c- music is music, like who you like and keep your dislikes in your head because saying lil wayne sucks at music may be true based on either fact or opinion but its not gonna take the multi millions out of his bank account/take all his merch off the shelves/eradicate all his fans...so really pointless to even hate on anyone in the game because it wont change anything.
if you like tech listen to him, if you dont like wayne dont listen to him, no need to talk shit to/about anyone, cuz if someone that listens to wayne is talkin shit anyways is probably (as you all have said) too "simple minded" to know better than to speak ill of someone as ill as the K.O.D.
end of story?
