Just a few questions about it.

A. How much $ of your sales do you get from Independent Vs. Major?
I Know Major takes more but does your independent label take any of that $?

B. How much $ do you think artists make on tour?

C. How much $ do you get from iTunes Sales?  Out of .99¢ + Tax how much does the artist get?

D. Another iTunes question?  How do they measure sales?  Like if I buy one song off of iTunes, that obviously shouldn't count as a record sale, right?  But if an album has let's say 18 tracks, does 18 people buying one track count as an album sale for them?

Guess it's all money questions actually lol

C. They get about $0.55 on the dollar for their sales. Apple gets the rest to fund their world domination.
Damn, that's fucked up. Does anyone have any other answers?

usually the average amount of money a major label artist gets for each copy sold is about 1 dollar per, also that dollar per copy is divided among other ppl who the artist is still obligated to pay,so they really dont get shit!!!Im sure indie labels are different, theres not as many ppl that work for an indie label when compared to the majors, plus indie labels dont throw huge amounts of money into advertising so thats got to be a big difference maker also, plus indie labels are run differently amongst eachother so the amount probably varies depending on which indie label it is and how they are run,so basically ,i have no fuckin idea either.
Lol yea. I've been wonderin this for some time but can't find an exact answer either

i would think that when it comes to indies the real bread and butter is in tour and merch unlike the majors but thats all about to change since being signed to a major doesnt mean shit any more, more artists are starting to realize that the majors arent always the way to go anymore, read this article, its actually pretty interesting

I know a while ago Fat Joe said he got like 7-8 dollars per album sold.
you have to factor in the money that the artists get paid for their verses too... like lil wayne, he gets paid stupid amounts of money for his verses, and hes everywhere, so even if he was getting $.75 per album sale, hes still making crazy money.
