Granted, I smoke reefer often, but is that all that bad? When I was young I was always terrified of getting in trouble with cops, doing bad in school, etc. If I got in trouble my mom would be furious. She would scream, yell, cry, etc. She'd go crazy. But what I was afraid of was my dad coming home and finding out. Aside from a few smacks on the ass and a few raps on my head, my dad never laid a hand on me. But the sound of his voice when he was angry is what kept me in line, and it still does. Now I'm in college, doing well, and I stay out of trouble.
I have a friend who would get a whoopin' any time he got in trouble. Now, he's 22 with a kid who he never sees, he busts his ass at shit-job to pay rent in his rundown apartment (after about a year of receiving unemployment checks), he got kicked out of college for dealing, and I'm pretty sure he has done every drug aside from crack, meth, and heroin.
Permalink Reply by Rain Dollaz on January 10, 2011 at 9:05pm guess im ignorant... because what u just said...u was scared of ur fathers voice... most ppl i know didnt have they father wasnt scared of they mother.. except for the whoopin.. lol i mean they will say they mom layed down the law wit talkin to them warnin them...but idk.. maybe its just me.. we ina time now where everyone wants to be on the friend level wit they kids and talk and compremise..and then let they kids be whatever they want to be..back talk ect.. i came up i was hella bad wit it.. cause my mom stopped whoopin me at like 13 14... and i wasnt scared of her.. dad wasnt around.. so i was doing what i wanted..but to a limit outta my own self respect for my mom.
so to sum it up.. if u didnt have ur dad around.. thats a prob too which will make the kid react too.. i also still think ur friends play a major part too besides ur parent or parents. cause ur gona be wit them more anyway and bond wit them..not sayin everyone are followers.. but this is what i see most the time..

Permalink Reply by ЖĭϞϬ ƦΔϟŦԃ on January 10, 2011 at 11:18pm Nah man. When I was really young, if I acted up I'd get that one smack on the ass to tell me "Cut the shit". I was never sat down and spanked repeatedly. Nothing that left marks or would swell or anything. And as far as raps on the head...as I got older a smack on the ass didn't work. So instead I'd get that one slap on the back of the head to tell me, again, "Cut the shit." I don't see that as a whoopin', 'cause it's nothin' serious. No switch, no belt, etc. I'd get "hit" not necessarily as discipline for doing something wrong, but as a warning to stop doin' what I'm doin' or I'm gonna be disciplined.
And Rain...
I don't think the way certain people parent their children today is really any better. Beatin' a kid's ass is on one end of the spectrum, while kissin' a kid's ass is all the way on the other end. You gotta find a middle-ground. You do need to be able to talk to your children, 'cause if you can't, they aren't gonna turn towards you when they need help. They're gonna turn toward the streets. Talking doesn't mean you can't control them, if you have to beat your kid's ass every day, then obviously you can't control them either. But you can't also be buddy buddy with your kids. You have to show your kids that you are there to help them and guide them, while also maintaining the role as disciplinarian.
As for my parents, my dad was usually the laid back one. My mom freaked out over any and everything. As I got older I obviously got a lot bigger and stronger than my mom. She's not about to come smack the shit outta me, 'cause she knows that it's not gonna teach me anything. So we'd argue, screamin' n' hollerin'. I won't lie, I can't help but argue. I always gotta have the last word, and my mom is the same way. So we butt heads. But when my dad gets pissed, I shut the fuck up. There is no argument, there is no yelling, nothing. I wasn't scared by his anger because it meant he might beat my ass, it was because my dad is usually more relaxed. So when he gets angry like that, I simply know I fucked up. He didn't need to raise a hand to me, all he had to do was raise his voice. That's discipline.
What I'm trying to say is that you need to pick and choose the appropriate form of discipline. Is it appropriate to smack the shit out of your four year old in the middle of Wal-Mart 'cause they want a candy bar? No. Is "talking it out" with your seventeen year old gang-banging, drug-dealing, son appropriate? No. So yes, I can say whoopin' is bad, when it is the only form of discipline. If a kid is getting bad grades in school, beating your kid's ass may help them get better grades, but only because they don't want their ass kicked again. But if you sit down and talk with your kid you have a better chance at making them realize why they should want to get good grades. You gotta teach them why it's important and how it helps them become a decent human being. You have to use some sort of logic to make them understand why what they did is wrong, and why they shouldn't do it again. Violence only works for so long. If they grow up and learn they shouldn't do something 'cause they're gonna get their ass beat, what happens when they're too old to get their ass beat?

Eventually you're too old to be whooped, at least for smoking cigarettes. I mean that you can get too old to get whooped by your parents. No one is too old for an ass whoopin', I'll fuck up a blind retiree in a wheel chair. Haha.
The video was fine. It wasn't over the line or inappropriate. But what you're talking about seems to be pretty fuckin' inappropriate. My friend works at a grocery store said he was workin' the night shift and saw a dad come in with a couple young kids. This was midnight at the absolute earliest, what the fuck are these young ass kids doin' up? Anyway...they're walkin' back to the car and he has each kid carrying some bags to put in the car. Remember, these are young ass kids, 6 and under I guess. The kids weren't moving fast enough when putting the groceries and themselves in the car, so the father proceeds to scream and hit his kids until they all get in the car. Ina-fucking-ppropriate, completely.
When I was younger I remember hearing my friend and his sister across the street screaming bloody murder in the middle of the night. For whatever reason, their dad was givin' them a whoopin'. I guarantee if you heard these screams, you would know these kids could have not done anything to deserve such a whoopin'. If you're leaving bruises or marks on your kids, I personally believe you've gone too far, especially with young kids.
