Of course people don't use the term "nigga" just to take the power or hatred out of "nigger". That's because that was started generations ago. As I'm sure you know, people didn't start saying "nigga" in the nineties. Think of almost any slang term that you use or have used in your life. Most likely you were not using that word with its origin in mind. Does E-40 say broccoli (money) to take the power and evil from broccili (disgusting vegetable)? No...it's just lingo now.

I feel what homie saying, if its not natural and you are just saying it cause you listen to rap music and thinks its cool then its not offensive its just lame as hell. I cant picture a group of white friends calling each other nigga. Its not a big deal to me but it makes shit awkward so I advise white people to stay away from it

I am white and I dont use it casually in conversation. I find people who do to be overbearing.
I will say it if it is in the song, as many times as nessecary, I wont censor myself, but it isnt really part of my vocabulary.
Id never use it to describe a person, like oh that nigga.
I dont use it, basically because of the negative connotations associated with it.
Same reason I dont say really say faggot, it can be offensive and someone could take it way stronger than I intended.

Anybody see the Boondocks episode where the teacher got in trouble for calling Riley a nigga?
Rileys always like, nigga give me a pencil, nigga let me borrow a fry, so the teacher said, nigga sit down.
