It literally took me under 5 minutes to research the topic and realize that kony was pushed back into the congo and has been a non-issue since 2004. I also discovered that Uganda discovered oil deposits last year and countries have been fighting over claims to the area and it's resources. This is a propaganda insertion scheme for america to exploit african resources. I figured this all out on my phone in under 5 minutes before I got out of bed yesterday. USE YOUR FUCKING BRAIN

there is a good bit of info with sources by the second poster here.

I'm not going to go find information on the oil connection because that is just how interpret American intervention when oil has recently been discovered, but the dots are there so you can connect them however you want. Either way you connect them it's just another example of media robbing citizens of tangible sources of information.

Either you support this or you don't. Make up your decision based on your own mind and beliefs. Everyone complaining that this has been going on for years so why take action now. The reason for taking action now is because not many people knew anything about Kony until this video was made. At the very least this video is just making people aware of the situation. Personally I had absolutely no idea who Kony was until this video. The point of the video is to keep Kony relevant to the people and important U.S. officials to keep pushing to capture Kony. The US has known about this for who knows how many years. But just finally in 2011 Obama makes a move to aid troops in Uganda by sending over 100 US militants. That just goes to show it took Invisible Children 9 years of work just to get 100 Troops to help. Yes there are millions of starving children so why not help them instead? We are helping them. You see commercials all the time to donate money to starving kids in Africa and to help them have clean water and schooling. Most people are going to ask why help people in Africa when we have our own problems here. The answer is simple, Africa doesn't have the resources or money like we do. We are the most powerful country and can make changes to things like Kony. Africa is a poor, weak country, they need help. Imagine being one of the kids in this video fearing for your life every day. You'd be glad people from another country are trying to help. And to those saying Invisible Children only gives 30% of charity donations, that's how every charity is. Who knows maybe our government will make moves to arrest Kony. The arrest of Kony will be an example to all the other corrupt military group leader's in Africa that they can and will be stopped. @Evan Kettler I read the links you posted. Yes there are only about 1,000 Kony followers left, which has dropped from 5,000 since 2003. But the goal is to make it 0 followers. If you also read LRA has still been able to kill 2,000 civilians, abduct 3,000, and force 440,000 to flee. The goal is to make it so the civilians aren't afraid to live anymore. And you say go to school, they don't teach us this in school which is the beauty of the internet. Invisible Children got this to go viral and I applaud them for that. That was their goal. Peace has to start somewhere. And if it takes me to sign a petition and spend $5 on posters to help change then why not.

Alright well I can't argue with the fundamental ideology, but I suggest you donate to a reputable charity in an area of Africa which is worse such as Somalia. Your dollar will go way further.
