Ok, so I think its fair to say most people pirate music. Period. Now you might think its a terrible thing if you don't but look at this:

This might be true if record labels paid bands all the money from their album sales – but they don’t. Artists make the overwhelming majority of their revenue from live concerts and special engagement tickets, and merchandise sales. Record companies make money off album sales. They effectively buy the artist’s work, and act as though they own the rights to distribute it, but they don’t own the artist or their ability to perform their own music. Music piracy doesn’t pirate concert tickets, that’s the job of the growing ticket-sales racket both on and off-line, which has sparked its own controversies lately as more fans (including pirates) try to support their favorite bands by paying to see them. This argument could even be taken a step further by poising a rhetorical questions: “How many people have gone to pay for tickets at a concert featuring a band that they first discovered due to pirated/redistributed material?”

Of course this wouldn't apply to independent record labels (i.e. Strange) but big record labels yes.

Thoughts?

Well the record industry and music industry is so fucking shady and is full of shit why should it matter since most of the artists dont even get paid when people buy there music. when u buy a record it goes to people that own and run the label. Why do u think artists and bands get dropped from labels. Its because people in the record company arent making what they think is enough money. Thats why Tech got dropped from Interscope and universal. Becuase they didnt know how to sell tech n9ne so they can get money. Why do u think a lot of ill rappers are not on majors. since there music doesnt have a pop sound they know that the majority of there target market isnt going to like it so there is no chance that they will buy it and the label owner and the person that runs it wont get money. so they wont sign them and put there record out. Thats why I support and buy the music of the artists/bands and labels that i truely like in one way or another. I buy every release i can find from Strange not only because it is some of the dopest music but i like how they do there business. They dont sign acts because they get played on the radio but because the music is really good and they like it. And the music is what the actual artists wants it to sound like not what other people want it to sound like. Also because Strange truely cares about there artists because the artists gets money from there releases. probably more so than any other label. Also they put money back into there artists and the label instead of taking it all for themselves. Which is another reason why I support Strange and other bands and artists that kind of have the same idea and that make really good music. If its not buying a band/artists cd than its going to there concert and buying a t-shirt or something so that u are supporting them in some way. Lets all be honest. All of u say that say u are anti pirating and everything there are probably some artists/ bands/labels that u have a boughten every release or a majority of it. Strange is probably a good exaple of it. But i bet u that most of the songs on your ipod are from bands and artists that u havent boughten a single cd from or have maybe boughten a cd from them but u have a lot more songs on your ipod from that band thats not on that cd. thats what I think.
I buy all my albums. If I want to listen to it then for me, its good enough to buy. Im old school I guess, idk, I just like having the real shit. Getting to look at the album cover and every thing on the inside. If its not worth buying then its not worth listening to.
its hard to take you seriously when your picture looks like that..
Agreed.
