Recently, the LED screen on my Macbook cracked (see picture below) So for my birthday, my parents offered to either 1. Buy me a brand new computer for $500 or less, it would obviously not be a Mac 2. Fix the LED screen on my Macbook, which would cost roughly $300. SO I don't know what to choose. In June I'll of had this Macbook for 3 years. BUT if you've had a Mac before, and afterwards have used a PC, you know the Mac is better. On the other hand it is 3 years old, and IDK if it's worth spending $300 on if it's gonna be useless in a few months due to old age. I need help on deciding what to choose.

Your first problem was buying a mac lol.

Jk, but really you only need a mac if you're designing, PC's are better for everything else. Trufaxbruh.

I enjoy my Mac. There's way too much setup when you first get a PC. IDK, unless there's an amazing PC out there for $500 or less that I dont know about...i'll probably just keep my Macbook

Well what PC's would you guys suggest taking a look at...
I used PCs all my life until I got a Mac for college and you're right, once you get used to using a Mac PCs feel terrible. I say fix the screen.
I have the same problem you do, except my screen cracked within the first year lol. Anyway, I'm trying to save up and get my macbook fixed. where are you getting yours done for $300 at though? I called apple and they want $600 to fix mine.
Yeah just fix the screen. Macs are a decent system, although i prefer windows os, and you probably won't find one better than that for less than 500.
That was my thought. All the "decent" PCs in my opinion, are made by Dell..and most Dell's, good ones anyway, aren't less than $500. But Kyle there's a place here in Boise called "Mac World" he said it's $200 for the screen, and about $100 for the labor. Advice, never ask Apple how much it's gonna be to fix something cause it'll always be expensive as hell. Look for computer repair shops in your area on yellowpages.com and give em a call. I can almost guarantee you you'll get it fixed for less than $600...and you won't have to ship it anywhere.

I just like how easy it is to use my Macbook. Like I said, PC's take way too much time to set up and be able to use...but with my Macbook I was using it with in 2 minutes of taking it out of the box. Plus I don't feel like learning how to use a whole nother computer when I know how to use pretty much every feature on my Macbook.

If I was going to get a PC, this is the one I would get. It's just barely under $500 (without tax)

You could find a PC with decent specs around $500 local, like Best Buy, instead of online through Dell. Dell's are good computers, but there are other PC's with better features and better specs for the price. Unless you plan to run Windows on your Mac your gonna get a lot more compatibility with programs and devices with a PC. Any new PCs I have bought or installed for someone within the last few years come ready out of the box, so I can tell it's been a while since you owned a PC.

If you absolutely love your Macbook I would just buy another. Under $500 it's not gonna be a great system, but it'll be newer than your current one, will only cost $200 more, and the money isn't even coming out of your pocket. Macs are great computers and are almost virus proof since no one is writing virus' for them, but IMO I prefer PCs.

My mom got a PC last October. That's where I'm getting my, takes a while to set up, comment from. Honestly I get what you're saying...but what new Macbook can I get that's $500??? Lol. I'm most likely just going to get my LED screen fixed. Another question I have though...is it possible to return every thing to factory settings..besides 1 or 2 programs...just so I can completely get rid of some of the older shit I have on my computer. Only programs I wanna keep with out restoring is Itunes and my Final Cut Pro I have on here.
