Recently, the LED screen on my Macbook cracked (see picture below) So for my birthday, my parents offered to either 1. Buy me a brand new computer for $500 or less, it would obviously not be a Mac 2. Fix the LED screen on my Macbook, which would cost roughly $300. SO I don't know what to choose. In June I'll of had this Macbook for 3 years. BUT if you've had a Mac before, and afterwards have used a PC, you know the Mac is better. On the other hand it is 3 years old, and IDK if it's worth spending $300 on if it's gonna be useless in a few months due to old age. I need help on deciding what to choose.

I guess it depends on how much memory you have left on your hard drive... If it still has a lot then I would fix the screen and get an external hard drive to back up my stuff before someone fixes it. The only things I use my Mac for is iTunes and the internet. One time I had a Mac completely shut down and wouldn't turn on, but somehow they were able to retrieve the files from the hard drive and put it on an external hard drive that attatched to your computer with a  USB cable
Get the mac fixed. I have a macbook pro and fucking love it to death.
Like I said, I've had my Macbook for 3 years. So I know what it's like to have one Lol I jus don't know how much longer this thing is gonna last. That would be the only reasoning behind me gettin a brand new PC

I think it all depends on what you use your computer for:

Designing, Graphic work, Garage Band, Gaming etc.. = get your mac fixed

youtube, downloading music, TRTN, school work, etc.  = go get a $500 laptop w/ Windows7

I use it for things ranging from just surfing the internet all the way to using Final Cut Pro to edit skate videos.

FIXED, first of all.....

Secondly, just get the $500 laptop, for 500 you can actually get a pretty nice machine these days, if you want Mac cause you are used to it, learn about Virtual Machine, basically running whatever OS you want within another OS. So even if you are addicted to a Mac you can get all the stuff from it, plus close one window and BAM, back to windows.

I don't game...or download too much music though Lol I read on an official Mac forum...that most Macbooks last for 5 to 6 years depending on how their treated. Soo that kinda pushed me more towards just restoring my Macbook. IDK, my birthday is a little less than 3 months away (August 16th) so that still gives me time to think and do more research.

Macs are for people who are computer illiterate.

Did you really just say if your gaming get the Mac fixed?

Really?

That has to be the most absurd statement I have ever heard.

If the Mac still works with the busted creen get a new computer and use both. You can run Safari on a PC so the browser would be the same. The pic looks like the Mac is still functional and the creen doesn't look that bad. I say have two computers.
It's a mac. So its an overpriced PoS.

the question no one even asked...lol...what r the specs on the computer u have
Buy a windows notebook then do a hackintosh setup with iatkos s3v2 and partition it where windows is on one side and osx is on the other. Go thru the forum at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ to find out which pc notebooks will support osx without any problems. You should be able to get an intel i3 with some decent specs that will run osx for under $500.
I don't use Safari, not a fan of it. I use Firefox. And Scurvy, macs are not "overpriced PoS" sooooo you shut your mouth. Steven, it's a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB of Memory and 667 MHz. I have Mac OS X version 10.5.8 on it right now. Its 3 years old...so IDK what computers have today, but yeah.
