I am a long time loyal fan of Strange here to say, "End The Pledge" you are playing a dangerous game with God.
It's not just a game, and the pledge is not necessary. Us true fans are down with Strange for the long haul. We have purchased Strange artist through the years all the way back to 57th Street RDV's.
The implications of the pledge are too strong, I am a fan and a minister, I have met Tech in person and like the music because I understand the inner conflicts of the human nature and the God nature. This pledge is not conflict, but is contradictory to spiritual prioritization.

The Pledge is just another track, I bought the 6s and 7s album and only ever listened to the pledge 3 times coz its not a song, so whats the dealeo ? Tech gave what we voted for, to G us all up. Nothin wrong with us feeling a bond in our genuine support and appreciation.

1) If you think the pledge is stupid regardless of faith, then don't say it. whatever.
2) All of you that think "The Pledge" doesn't/wasn't intended to have religious implications are simply wrong.
3) THAT WAS THE POINT OF THE PLEDGE. Tech has been playing with the antichrist persona since KOD, and of course he would bring it back as a theme on an album titled All 6's and 7's
4) Quit complaining. If you like what an artist is doing get into him/her, if you don't the get out, quit trying to put your voice into the artists music. Tech is using a theme in his music that helps him convey his message.

I've always been kinda "iffy" about the following of Tech and being identified as a cult. Some interesting things I've found:
Characteristics of Cults...
The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.
Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.
Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).
The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.
The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).
Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.
The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.
The cult weakens the follower psychologically by making him or her depend upon the group to solve his or her problems.
I'm not saying that Tech fans are a cult...I'm saying there are cult-like characteristics. And correct me if I'm wrong, but no person in the history of the world ever believed they were in a cult, right? What do you guys think?

On some level, religion can be cult-like. Religion is man-made, as are cults. Several of the qualities of cults translate directly into religions. From some of the readings I've found, "cults" are more based on hindering its followers and promoting the leader rather than promoting and advancing an individual as well as their God, which is what religion does, technically. I see your argument and I dont really have an answer, but that's what I've found.
Also, I know that this "pledge" is used to promote the people who say it, as well as all the people who follow Tech. So with that in mind, as well as what I've said before, is being a "Technician" a religion?

Absolutely. You're right. On the other side, killing yourself doesn't officially make it a cult either. And like I said, those people weren't aware of their "cult" status, I don't think. Same as the people who are involved in cults right now, and have no idea. You can be passionate about something without being in a cult, but you can also be passionate and BE in a cult.
Please don't misread this. I'm not saying Tech fans are in a cult. Just food for thought...

I wont take the pledge. I have only one real problem with it. Pledging yourself to anything, will lead to missed oppurtunities in the future because it creates closed mindedness. The part of the pledge that says "Technician I am whole heartedly, in life and in death." That to me means your heart and your faith is dedicated to this cause. I just cant bring myself to dedicate the purpose of my being completely to an artist and his fan base. I do consider myself a Technician, but I am many other things as well. I like to move foward, discover, and learn. If I am "wholeheartedly" something, then I am no-heartedly anything else.
