Are they based heavily on numbers or internal decisions swayed by money? I'm just wondering because I saw they put up a woodie for best performer and thought statistically tech was a shoe in for nomination not to mention he won a woodie previously and has gained "mainstream" appeal.

It seems to me like more of a political under the table move to me. I guess I'm really just curious what part connections and paying people off has to do with it. Anyone know?

The Woodie awards are for Underground artists that barely anyone has heard of. They probably think Tech is too big for it now. I don't know how the Woodie awards work. But I'm pretty sure that award shows like the MTV music awards are based on popularity.

Woodie awards include people like Jay-Z and Kanye, it's not at all just for underground acts.

Exactly. Left field woodie is for underground

My bad. I thought it was for artists on the come up. I was wrong.

I saw the nominations 'n thought the same thing. Especially for the "best performer" award, I mean c'mon, the man does ~200 shows a year, like OP said he's gaining popularity, he's about to embark on a record breaking tour after doing a 80+ date tour last year (along with the Lost Cities tour & all other dates that year), 'n it's not the first time his performance has been praised, makes no fucking sense.
