Permalink Reply by θάνατος εις Πεφωτισμένων ʘ on October 18, 2012 at 9:39pm Very noteworthy album to say the least. My only complaint is that Willie B. wasn't included, which is fucking weird. I would have loved to hear the productions he would have contributed to an album of this proportion. I've obviously only been listening through "good kid, m.A.A.d city" for a little over a day now so I'll give it the proper time it needs to make a final judgement. By my estimations however, Ab-Soul's new addition this year in "Control System" far exceeded anything that was accomplished on Kendrick Lamar's debut in my personal opinion.
2012 Album Of The Year Candidates (Current):
1. Ab-Soul - "Control System"
2. ¡Mayday! - "Take Me To Your Leader"
3. Chino XL - "RICANstruction: The Black Rosary"
4. Kendrick Lamar - "good kid, m.A.A.d city"
5. Xzibit - "Napalm"
6. Dizzy Wright - "SmokeOut Conversations"
7. Murs - "Yumiko: Curse Of The Merch Girl"
8. Lupe Fiasco - "Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1"
9. Nas - "Life Is Good"
10. Linkin Park - "Living Things"
All in that order to be precise. Also, I would have included Freddie Gibbs' "Baby Face Killa" pretty high on that list but it was released as a mixtape instead of a free LP as originally intended. Honorable mentions might include Curren$y's "The Stoned Immaculate", DMX's "Undisputed", Krizz Kaliko's "Kickin' & Screamin'", and E-40's "The Block Brochure: Welcome To The Soil" as well.
