well i dont know anyone who listens to him, so idk how popular he really is. everyone i know whos heard of him found him through Wiz

but hes been around way before Wiz also i think he used to be on cash money records? not to mention Wiz kinda took  his style but maybe its just hes more popular where i live idk

seriously, these niggas are wildin sayin E-40 ain't lyrical and he's wack and shit....man whateva! he stands out to me imo, and I ALREADY KNOW WHAT YALL GONNA SAY "OH HIS VOICE IS ANNOYING, I CAN'T LISTEN TO THE WAY HE TALKS N SHIT' BUT @ LEAST HIS STYLE makes him unique and stand out then a majority of the hip hop game.....if u actually sit down and pay attention to his songs, they have in depth meaning..

If we're goin' by who my "favorite non strange rapper.." not who I necessarily think is the "best", then I'm gonna go with Too $hort. He's been revelant before some of these cats named here knew how to rap, and he's still pretty revelant today. He (along with N.W.A, 2 Live Crew & Public Enemy) proved pretty early on that you can say (for better or worse) whatever you want on an rap album & get away with it. He's been on a track with damn near every artist that has been mentioned on this list, and his track with Kutt was one of the highlights on Raw & Un-Kutt. His subject matter never really strayed & he didn't have a lot of flawless albums, but he was one HELL of a storyteller..........(Ice Cube gets an honorable mention here, also...)

Yelawolf, no doubt. "See Ive been on my travels, since Adam bit the apple, feeling like I got the biggest dick in the world and I cant even fit a magnum!!" E-40 gets an honorabe mention for sure.

taught me how to go with the flow when the winds come
curled up in a ball and tried to hide inside a kick drum. 
while the crew is gettin piss drunk i had to purify my own and drink up 
i had to save and conserve recycle my salty words to keep the meat on my bones all pres-s-s-served.

dude rhyming is different than lyricism dont get it confused. E40 might end his bars with rhymes but that doesnt make him a lyricist.. its all good if hes ur favorite but im just sayin... not super lyrical
