*NOTE*
I AM NOT ACTUALLY PROPOSING THIS AS A REAL IDEA.
I just thought it would be cool if we composed kind of a list of rules that we would like tech n9ne to follow while making an album, while still trying to give him all of his creative control. Again, not actually saying we print this shit out and mail it to tech n9ne, but it'd be cool to see what we come up with.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically we don't limit tech's creative control like this; We don't tell him what to do, but we tell him what not to do. The last thing we would want to do is push him around creatively, i think we can all agree on that.
EXAMPLES:
We can't tell him who to feature on the album. But we can tell him who NOT to feature on the album. Just so we don't end up with "fuck food 2 ft. gucci mane and soulja boi"
We can give him a wishlist though. A list that we know he will read, of artist we all agreed upon that we would like him to concider, he is by no means bound to that list though.
We can't give him a maximum amount of time to work on the album, but we can give him a minimum amount of time. Example; take at least two days writing each song.
"no songs about the topic of _______"
I think you guys get the idea. Let's start proposing ideas to each other and see what kind of outlines we can ultimately come up with.

I agree with the 816 boyz thing..if they are gonna do an album then take all the singles out of the future albums....i like the idea of more songs that relate to the everready like beast and no can do.....i think tho that he should do a song like too much from killer cuz i loved that beat and the lyrics....i think it should be called (way too much) and personally i think kutt calhoun ruined the song because he just didnt fit...i like him..but not in that song.

meh.. never gonna happen.
Permalink Reply by matt meyer on November 5, 2012 at 3:00pm i disagree. How would an artist ever grow and improve if he never received any criticism?
If Tech only listened to his dick rider fans that LOOOOoooOOoOOve every song he's ever made, he'd never get any better.
Also, like i said already, this is all hypothetical.

Then u need to listen to different rappers. If u don't like something he does then don't listen to that song. By limiting artists he Collins with u are definitely fuckin with his creativity.
Permalink Reply by matt meyer on November 5, 2012 at 3:03pm that's a dope idea.
Like the 5 fingers of death except obviously not a freestyle.

Only thing I've been wanting from Tech for a while is a 3-5 minute track with a bunch of short beats, no hook, just Tech ripping different styles constantly for the tracks length. Surely Tech has gone through hella beats and liked them but not had enough songs to put them on. Or even classic hip hop beats and pay homage to them the Strange way. Would be dope. My only wish.

First thing i have to bring up is the 'Sex' Song debate. Its very controversial some of his best / worst tracks are sex tracks. I saw somebody say if the sex song isn't unique then it should be left off the album. Take a song like KJOMD...Its a very unique concept, i haven't ever heard anyone else do a track like that. But that's probably one of my least favorite tracks I've ever heard. Its safe to say that i HATE that song. Also Fuck Food same thing...unique but its still not a very good song. Now take a song like Sex Out South, it really ain't that unique of a track but it stomps almost all the rest of his 'strictly sex' tracks. Therefore you can't simply claim that if a song isn't unique don't put it on the album. Not to mention a good portion of his music IS sex tracks so if you take that away from him you might end up with even less quality music (you know like about twitter and shit)..
As for the 816 Boyz debate I wouldn't be sad if i never heard another 816 Boyz track again. I think most the time its a waist of a good spot on the track-list roster that could have been filled with a dope ass track. No offense to Tech N9ne but i just don't think humor is his strong point in music. Plus all those songs really lack replay value. Areola was a complete success but its time to stop dragging it out.
As for the idea that he needs to wait 2 days from the time he writes it to the time he records it is kind of weird....If anything i think he should have to wait 2 days after a track is recorded to determine whether its album quality. But honestly that wont prevent crappy music from being on an album.. Hes stubborn as shit after he got all those negative reviews for EBAH instead of admitting maybe the music wasn't that good he still claimed that its 'Beautiful music' we just can't hear it the way he does..(non-nonsensical bull shit). I think what he needs is a good critic in the studio, straight up i think he needs somebody with good Tech N9ne taste to critique his tracks before he can put them on an Album. It would give him time to either revise the track, or save it for bonus material. Shit after awhile of doing this he might have a nice collection of unreleased tracks that he could utilize.
The one artist i wish Tech N9ne would have a collabo with on his Album is Ludacris..

instrumentals are an interesting idea though. But the thing is, i dont think they would spend the extra money making hard copies just for the intrumentals, and they for sure aren't going to make all the beats available before the album is out.
Maybe they could do something where people who pre-ordered get an email on the release date that give them a download link for the instrumental.
JetblacK said:
I've said this before, but seeing as Strange music preorders cost way more than buying at bestbuy after shipping, instead of the ugly ass t-shirt, give us the instrumentals. You can find pretty much any hip hop instrumental you want on youtube unless it's from Strange lol I hate it.
matt meyer said:we can get a little more creative with the guide lines.
promo, pre order, bonus tracks. other bonus materiel.
double disc, multiple releases, blah blah blah.
Permalink Reply by matt meyer on November 5, 2012 at 3:19pm you make some good points.
First thing i'd like to take out of that is NO SONGS ABOUT TWITTER.
Second, i totally see what you're saying about the sex songs. It just seems like on every album there are a couple of sex songs that disapoint the hell out of me. And i agree, i don't want to eliminate sex songs completely, because that would be fucking with him creatively. I just thought the sex songs that had a unique style or undertone to them would yield a higher likely hood for a dope song. songs like "paint on your pillow case".
the wait 2 days idea i was a little shaky on too. i was trying to think of way to stretch out the time he takes creating the album, without just saying "take x amount of days to make your album". I think we both have the start to a good idea, i'm just not sure how to complete it.

1. i think that the cover art is a major part of an album and the booklet too i want some top notch cover art like K.o.d's Shit was fuckin epic or for the booklet do sum off the wall shit like twiztid did with H&H where the booklet wsa a series of journal entries from a mentally unstable person and there were pages you could write on (Please dont dog on me for using twiztid as an example i like twiztid so yeah)
2. Since 816 boyz are gonna be a real thing refrain from using them
3. Take AS MUCH TIME AS YOU NEED TO MAKE THE ALBUM PERFECT look at everready that shit was hardcore
4. try some freestyle type stuff with no hooks like wrekonize
5. Sex Song Issue Create an interesting concept but make it enjoyable plz
6. for the preorder i say have 2 versions regular which has all the usual stuff (tshirt sticker autograph) and a deluxe version which comes with either 3 or 4 bonus tracks a dvd or like ICP Did a remix kit usb braclet (AGAIN DONT DOG ON THIS IDEA CUZ OF ICP A usb remix kit that is also a braclet very different very creative)
7. also i say try and keep the collabs small cuz i want to hear more solo tech verses just my thoughts
Permalink Reply by Chief on November 5, 2012 at 3:50pm Yeah, word about no twitter lmao. I knew where you were coming from about the unique undertone for sex songs. Because generally it is the more unique off tone sounding songs that appeal to me. My all time favorite sex songs are Demons and Haunterish. Which fall under the unique category.
I honestly think that having a more strict critique would result in him taking more time to complete the album because he would have to revise songs that weren't up to PAR or even just start over with a new song.

Permalink Reply by Chief on November 5, 2012 at 3:58pm I gotta disagree with your #4. Nothing bugs me more then a slacked chorus on a dope ass song. Or a dope ass chorus on a slacked verses. I think the Chorus makes or breaks a songs replay value. I liked Siikez idea on 1 track, about having a changing beat for 5 minutes with no chorus but for majority of tracks i think the chorus is necessary.
