how does one copy right there own music?? like on the net or cds? if they want to start there own label?

there is a washinton copyright address u fill out a form and send in all ur music wit the lyrics and they make a file of it and send u a file back as proof.. i dont know the address tho.. my friend did it with his music its how i know.. and there is a fee too.
