no

Because he was inside a room filled with gas and innocent people. If you open fire blindly in a place where you cant see, good chance you wont hit the person you want.

this, same reason why I don't think more people in the theater should've had guns to "protect themselves" like a bunch of gun nuts are saying, because yes, what we need when we have someone shooting a smoke filled theater is 4 more people with guns shooting at people they can't see, seems legit. Because that wouldn't have increased the death or injury toll at all.

He also didn't struggle when they arrested him. When they put the cuffs on him he had dyed his hair red, and told the "I'm the Joker!"

Same reason they didn't at Colombine.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Not sure why though

I was just skimming something the other day about why they don't engage active gunmen or some shit, now I can't find it. I have failed you.

everyone should own gun in my opinion i know that the smoke would have messed them up but hell ida been shootin back fuck it would have worked better than duckin down at least there is a chance he would have got shot

You fail -_- everyone is awesome, but you.. #youmakemeangry

and what happens if other people with guns in the theater think you're another shooter? part of a/the team? or just don't know who's the bad guy? Great, imagine a theater full of people shooting each other, that could've happen and would ONLY happen if everyone had a gun, even without the smoke, more guns is not the answer, you wanna know what would've prevented those people getting killed? it's not people having guns to protect themselves, it's the shooter not having a gun to begin with. There are tons of massacres and shootings that happen because in some states ex-cons and people who are mentally or emotionally unstable can get guns as easily as you do groceries, do you really think those people should own firearms? If you want a country where pretty much everyone has a gun go to Somalia. I mean, I don't necessarily believe in restricting guns (pistols and hunting gear that is, assault rifles, etc. are ridiculous), but it's far too easy to get guns in this country.

But not everyone needs a gun, that's insane. Wanna know a stunning number? for every 100 people in this country, there's 90 guns, that's fuckin' nuts imo. Ohh and before someone says "guns don't kill people, people kill people", bullshit, kills were made for killing people, you can kill someone with a pillow but that pillow wasn't made to kill it's target, a gun is built for the purpose of incapacitating/harming/killing whoever it's aimed at.

And before the whole "right to bear arms" argument arises, don't quote the 2nd amendment if you don't know it, it's talking about for a well regulated system for a "militia". Here, I'll quote it for everyone

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." I'll even define militia for you, "The word "militia" can be a body of citizens (no longer exclusively male) enrolled for military service where full time duty is required only in emergencies. The term also refers to the eligible pool of citizens callable into military service." so please don't gimme that crap.

also take into account that they didn't have AK-47s and RPGs back then, and what constitutes "arms"? do I have the right to bear a missle silo in my backyard? that's crazy right? but that's arms. 'n some countries' police don't even have guns, 'n ironically, their crime rates are lower than ours (keep in mind, we hold 25% of the world's prison population and Louisiana is officially the world's prison capital [at least America's #1 in something right?]), now that doesn't necessarily prove "cops w/o guns = less violent crime in a community" but it certainly doesn't hurt that claim. I could go on, and I might later when I think of more points to make lol.

TL;DR I'm a liberal who thinks gun regulations are too weak

on a related note, that movie was fucking incredible. was it better than the dark knight? idk, gunna have to wait till i rewatch it to say for sure.

I think being locked in a cold shitty room for the rest of my life would be much worse than being filled with lead in the blink of an eye. Just sayin'.
