I found out about Cognito's album Automatic in 2011 and it was sick. Started researching him and got all this info that he got dropped or he left Strange Music, feel like its just rumors maybe. So Im just wondering if Cognito is with Strange Music still? If hes not I would like specific details why he isnt anymore. Can anyone help me out?

Permalink Reply by Kyle on January 17, 2012 at 12:26am I can tell he is; I'm not doubtin him or anything. I'm on here a lot and never post. I just always wondered what his connection is with Cog. If he can't say that's cool.

Last time I spoke with him he said exactly that and also mentioned he's hoping to release Spoiled Milk within the first quarter of 2012.

Permalink Reply by Jake Beighey on March 4, 2012 at 12:10am Signed to a one album contract. Album didn't do as well as Strange expected so they didn't resign him-came from interview with Travis or tech or someone like that but don't remember exactly who.
Permalink Reply by Techn9cian4life on March 4, 2012 at 5:04am According to Cog it was cause he felt like Strange didnt promote albums very well. That they just focued on the album around the time it was being released/released.. Then they moved on to the next project. Travis' explanation was that they signed a 1 album deal with him, that 1 album didnt do very well, so they decided not to extend his contract. Soo I guess no one really knows the exact truth besides Cog n the Strange execs.

did he ever say why he left strange?
was it the whole 'gotta make my own impact' sorta thing. like why hopsin wont sign to strange.
After talking with Cog his primary issues were as such, He felt that his album wasn't promoted properly (given enough time to sink in) and that he felt all artists signed on On strange should do a series of tours. Travis/Dave Weiner brough cognito in on a 1 album deal and if sales were good they would have extended the contract, but since Cognito wasnt happy with what he felt as a lack of LONG enough support for the album it left him feeling out of place.
Skatterman & Snug Brim when they were together had felt that there wasn't enough promotion done for their last Strange album "Word on tha streets" it didnt fare well but they negotiated out of their initial 4 album contract.
Grave Plott (killa C & Liquid Assassin) were signed to a distribution deal with Strange very similiar to Prozak/PDM after the release of 'The Plott thickens" even tho it did moderatly well on the charts, instead of crafting another duo album Killa C went on to record and release Bound in chains :thy book of struggles and Liquid Assassin dropped "Apocalypse" followed shortly by "lost chapters of apocalypse" befor the two parted way....HOWEVER they are getting Grave Plott back together for a tour and probably another album (according to Liquid assassin it depends on how well the tour does)
Strange music promotes each album and true the albums run a month apart from each other mostly but thats because it keeps and capitlaizes off the fans energy. Fans want new music & New merch..merch is launched befor on and during a tour befor its ever put on the webstore.......The albums all being released during the Hostile take over tour will make everyone's chances for higher numbers better. Cd sales bought on tour are still neilsen sound scanned which is how album sales are tracked.
Even with Cognito off strange music he remains extended family..Much like Irv da phenom, Skatterman & Snug Brim, Sundae, 57 rdv's (Txx Will, bukarii, mr. whitebear ) the madesicc camp...Strange has a MASSIVE extended family. It branches out to YMCMB Suburban noize Records, Psychopathic records, Hypnotize Minds, and psyco logical records (necro's stuff)
