Hey all. I've been recently looking at StudioLeaks and TRTN forums and have realised that many people dislike 'The Gates Mixed Plate'. I was extremely surprised at this, as I LOVED TGMP. All the songs have a party feel and I just really enjoyed the album. So I was confused in WHY people HATE TGMP. The following list at the bottom will display my opinion on each song;

O.G. : Solid track, was O.K.

FU Pay Me: One of the best tracks on the album.

Gamer: Awesome song, enjoyed in very much.

Jumpin' Jax: Great song, also one of the best tracks on the album.

Keep It One Hunit: Another Great song on the album.

Pow Pow: Great song, and I love the hook.

Harvey Dent: Good Song, flow of the song is catchy.

What's Next: A bit slow, but still a great song.

Afterparty: Chill out song, very good.

Too Many Girls: Another catchy song.

Pu Wah Wah: Catchy song, but annoying music.

KC Tea: Meh... its O.K.

Oh You Didn't Know: One of the first songs I liked on the album, very catchy aswell.

Far Out: Beat of the song is amazing and the vocals are insane, Best of on the album.

Paper: Great song.

Loud: Another song which is in my top 5 of the album.

Need More Angels: Worst song of the album IMO.

Doin It: Meh... nothin special.

What's Yo Psycho: Great song, the chick on this song went hard.

So that's a short opinion on each song of the album. So I still don't understand why TGMP was flamed for being bad, it was really good album, definitely in my Top 5 albums by Tech N9ne.

Thanks for your responses. Peter.

Don't Flame me because of my opinion on certain songs, its my opinion on the album not yours. And NO I'm not trolling.

Need More Angels is the best song on the album. Far out and loud are hard ass tracks. no way i hate the album, but just like alot of you i have to be in the mood to listen to the whole album.

thats the same way i would rate the album

i loved the album, Keep It One Hunit was my favorite, still bumpin songs from the album daily
It doesn't really have the Tech sound to the album. Tech was reaching out to the mainstream, which is where half of you new, stupid fucking kids found out about Tech. The cd sounds like a bunch of shit as an album. Don't get me wrong, you have a couple alright songs there but none of his hits come from that album. And why wouldn't you talk about this when the album came out and people were actually talking about it on forums? Were you too afraid to say something at that time cuz I'm pretty sure there's not a lot of threads going on about TGMP right now. I'm curious to know what your 4 other favorite albums from Tech are, seeing as he only has a handful of albums and this one was probably the worst overall.

And there are your flames sir.
no, you are not the only one who enjoyed it. i thoroughly enjoyed it.
the gates mixed plate is fuckin dope fuck yall
Well, he just said he's new to the forums so that's why he's just saying it now. But I will agree with you, if you list all of Tech N9ne's "Classic" songs u can literally take at least one song off of every project except TGMP (and possibly Bad Season, some of us have mixed feelings on that)

As it was said earlier, I don't think it's a terrible album but imo when it's compared to his other albums it seems sub-par, but here's my take on the tracks individually

OG - It's a nice song to bullshit too, lyrically it's nothing amazing but it's not bad either, it was a good track

FU Pay Me - Tech & Krizz were good, but i thought Makzilla was horrible on it (Just gonna keep Cole's opinion on it cuz I feel the same way)

Gamer - It was an interesting concept but I didn't like the hook at all 'n the verses were a tad comical but I have no problem skipping this track

Jumpin Jax - really enjoyed this song, I think everyone did well 'n the hook was nice, I feel like if more songs had been executed like this and Loud the album might stand a chance with his other Collabo works

Keep It One Hunit - Dope track, one of my favorites on the album

Pow Pow - Weak features, Kutt's effect choice was annoying (Again I agree with Cole but I'd also like to add to the fact that we get only 30 seconds of Tech on a 5min 30sec long song 'n it doesn't help most the features weren't that great, but I do like the hook)

Harvey Dent - Really good song that I felt was perfect for this album 'n I really like the rhyme schemes he pulls, dope, dope track

What's Next - I'm seeing a lot of people not liking this track but it's one of my favorites, I think everyone did well on it

Afterparty - boring hook, and Devin The Dude takes the cake for worst verse on the album I agree but I think Tech had a really solid verse, he just sounded bored 'n I noticed with some of these songs ('n it runs thru his collabos history) he'll have a good or great verse 'n the features are meh, 'n that's a great way to describe this song

Too Many Girls - Kaliko was ok, Tech wasn't his best but wasn't bad, 'n I just really don't like Sundae that much haha

Pu Wah Wah - worst 816 Boyz track but I think the most hilarious 'n I will admit I've played this at parties for shits 'n giggles 'n everyone loves it haha 'n I think that's the essence of 816 Boyz songs so I won't be too critical, especially since it wasn't terrible haha

KC Tea - Solid, but could have been better since it was basically hyped as the next Caribou Lou well said

Oh You Didn't Know - Dope track, just wasn't feeling the Popper's verse, but I liked Irv 'n Tech on it, I usually skip forward after Irv's verse

Far Out - Def top 3 on the album, hard ass verses all around

Paper - I actually didn't like Tech's verse at all on this song, there were segments that I just didn't care for, Jay Rock was ok but didn't blow me away the first time I heard him but I love Joe Vertigo's verse, also hook is shit, sounds like mainstream bullshit

Loud - I feel that this song captures the essence of what the album should've been, good party music without sacrificing lyrics or flow, I like everyone's verse 'n it's def a party banger (as I'm sure was intended)

Need More Angels - alright sorry but HOW CAN THIS BE YOUR WORST SONG ON THE ALBUM? Great track lol I gotta agree, this was my favorite track on the album, this is what we love about Tech, that emotion, 'n Irv really does splendid on that hook, great song 'n I feel like oddly, it still fits the theme of the album becuz it's almost like amidst all the chaos from coming out of K.O.D. and then the partying he's just trying to find balance, love it

Doin It - I enjoy this song with the exception of Chillest Illest's verse, I just haven't liked any of his features on any Strange release, he's like the male Sundae for me haha, but Yuk 'n Tech have solid verses 'n I enjoy the hook, but it's def the most mainstream/pop-ish type song on the album but oh well I think Tech does well, not the best but not the worst

What's Yo Psycho - Love Tech's verse, like Brotha Lynch's verse, love the hook, 'n then I don't like Sundae haha

Loud

Harvey Dent

Too Many Girls

every tech n9ne album is great. i loved the gates mixed plates. its just a good mood cd. my favorite beat on it was too many girls. gamer was fun to listen to as well. i liked the up beat feeling of the album. when kod came out i was kinda in a bad place in my life and as much as i loved kod i due feel it helped push me farther down since its dark music.
As Charles said, I am new to the TRTN forums. Also I knew Tech about 3 years ago but never actually got his music until my brother gave me the Last Scripts of K.O.D. which got me into tech with just them few songs. So the first tech album I purchased was K.O.D. then I purchased TGMP shortly after. My Tech N9ne collection soon grew after the year. And to answer your other question... My favorite tech n9ne albums which I own are...     1. Everready     2. All 6's and 7's     3. Sickology 101     4. The Gates Mixed Plate     5. K.O.D.NOTE: I dont own any of techs albums before Everready. Yet again this is my opinion.
