Hey all. I've been recently looking at StudioLeaks and TRTN forums and have realised that many people dislike 'The Gates Mixed Plate'. I was extremely surprised at this, as I LOVED TGMP. All the songs have a party feel and I just really enjoyed the album. So I was confused in WHY people HATE TGMP. The following list at the bottom will display my opinion on each song;

O.G. : Solid track, was O.K.

FU Pay Me: One of the best tracks on the album.

Gamer: Awesome song, enjoyed in very much.

Jumpin' Jax: Great song, also one of the best tracks on the album.

Keep It One Hunit: Another Great song on the album.

Pow Pow: Great song, and I love the hook.

Harvey Dent: Good Song, flow of the song is catchy.

What's Next: A bit slow, but still a great song.

Afterparty: Chill out song, very good.

Too Many Girls: Another catchy song.

Pu Wah Wah: Catchy song, but annoying music.

KC Tea: Meh... its O.K.

Oh You Didn't Know: One of the first songs I liked on the album, very catchy aswell.

Far Out: Beat of the song is amazing and the vocals are insane, Best of on the album.

Paper: Great song.

Loud: Another song which is in my top 5 of the album.

Need More Angels: Worst song of the album IMO.

Doin It: Meh... nothin special.

What's Yo Psycho: Great song, the chick on this song went hard.

So that's a short opinion on each song of the album. So I still don't understand why TGMP was flamed for being bad, it was really good album, definitely in my Top 5 albums by Tech N9ne.

Thanks for your responses. Peter.

Don't Flame me because of my opinion on certain songs, its my opinion on the album not yours. And NO I'm not trolling.

The album badass..

Too many girls had the potential to be a classic!! But fucking sundae hadda justt ruin the last verse smfh!!! Stupid bitch. I lost all respect after that for her...tech shoulda thrown kutt or irv on it.
Not a bad album, def for mainstream tho. Anghellic will always be my fav. ima a dj so i see some of the songs off of TGMP get better crowd response as to some of the songs on Anghellic or Absolute Power. (Einstein and Imma Tell will always get a party started tho)
An awesome tribute to Kansas City, MO in my opinion. I think people pick apart albums just for individual songs without even looking at the overall theme and founding concept of that project. I've stated my opinion on TGMP before but I'll go ahead and somewhat reiterate it for you since you're new here. Many of the greatest emcees of our time have created albums to introduce/welcome you to their home turf and shed some light on the culture of the area that helped define who they are today. When Tupac released All Eyez On Me people all across the globe could listen to that album, close their eyes, and envision the life of a young man struggling for his life in the City Of Angels with the will to survive. The Chronic series and Doggystyle also had a similar effect for California. When Master P debuted Ghetto Dope it literally laid the foundation for other instant classics to flourish out of New Orleans such as Tha Carter series and Juve The Great. Where as other albums such as Ready To Die, Illmatic, and Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) completely reconstructed the East Coast Hip Hop movement during the 90's. You could continue on and on with these types of examples but you get the point. Do I think TGMP was received in that magnitude as it should have been? Absolutely not but it was rather a glimpse of success to come. I thought he did a hell of a job paying homage to KCMO through this collabos album for various reasons. Every solo Tech gives us all of him which is awesome, but we don't always get all of Kansas City. I'm glad he took the time out to share with us a glimpse of the KC lifestyle. Anything you can think of from shout outs to the world famous BBQ chain, trademark drinking tribute, Brooklyn Martino from local radio (so fucking fine I had to take this insert out to mention), showcasing lesser known KC talent, and also bringing the streets together for a good old fashioned FTP joint. I really enjoyed the album and have never understood (and probably never will) why people hate on it so much, even at all really. Minus the 816 Boyz track which was intended to be a joke there wasn't really a low point on this album for me. Everybody's taste is different but I truly think TGMP takes way to much undeserved criticism considering it's significance and meaning.
its a great album its just not what ppl like from tech i personally love it i like that sound party shit dog bump that with my girl all the time
It's the only tech cd I don't have a hard copy of hah but I'll get it eventually. It was alright

Most Strange albums that have come out after Sickology 101 usually have taken awhile to grow on me for whatever reason. On the first listen I only really only dug like every other song, but TGMP really grew on me this summer. All of the Hot 103 DJ's on there give it a nice summer top down cruising vibe. I'll prob catch a lotta hate for saying this but it was MUCH welcome change of pace after K.O.D....

Agreed. After from the K.O.D. dark feel to a party/summer orientated album was a great change of pace.

Keep it one hunnit was just as hard as any other tech songs from other albums and big scoob is sick as well. Seems like he just made this for a party album and he doesnt spend much work on the collabs cd's. Prolly second to last album from tech......which is still better than almost any other artists albums

i dont necessarily hate it, but i understand why people do. i thought it had its moments, but overall was not up to my standards of a Tech album (or collabo album for that matter).

OG - wasnt bad, cool summer track

FU Pay Me - Tech & Krizz were good, but i thought Makzilla was horrible on it

Gamer - Meh. Could have been a lot better

Jumpin Jax - Great song

Keep It One Hunit - Solid track

Pow Pow - Weak features, hook was meh, Kutt's effect choice was annoying

Harvey Dent - Great, but too short

What's Next - Nice, chill track

Afterparty - boring hook, and Devin The Dude takes the cake for worst verse on the album

Too Many Girls - 2/3 of it is sick, but Sundae ruins it

Pu Wah Wah - By far the worst 816 Boyz track

KC Tea - Solid, but could have been better since it was basically hyped as the next Caribou Lou

Oh You Didn't Know - Tech and the hook are dope, but i didnt think Irv or The Popper stepped up

Far Out - One of the sicker tracks

Paper - Good verses are ruined by an annoying hook

Loud - Great song overall

Need More Angels - alright sorry but HOW CAN THIS BE YOUR WORST SONG ON THE ALBUM? Great great track

Doin It - I actually liked this track even though like no one else did. It works for a chill beach song

What's Yo Psycho - Well bonus track but watev. Once again, 2/3 sick but another fail by Sundae

so yeah. nowhere near my top 5 albums. and if Tech keeps pumping out collabo albums, it might not even make my top 5 of that catagory

i agree with everything Cole said except i liked the hook on paper

Thanks for the response, I can definitely agree the Devin the Dude verse was the worst on the whole album and regarding Need More Angels, well, I just wasn't felling the vibe from that song.
