Hey all. I've been recently looking at StudioLeaks and TRTN forums and have realised that many people dislike 'The Gates Mixed Plate'. I was extremely surprised at this, as I LOVED TGMP. All the songs have a party feel and I just really enjoyed the album. So I was confused in WHY people HATE TGMP. The following list at the bottom will display my opinion on each song;

O.G. : Solid track, was O.K.

FU Pay Me: One of the best tracks on the album.

Gamer: Awesome song, enjoyed in very much.

Jumpin' Jax: Great song, also one of the best tracks on the album.

Keep It One Hunit: Another Great song on the album.

Pow Pow: Great song, and I love the hook.

Harvey Dent: Good Song, flow of the song is catchy.

What's Next: A bit slow, but still a great song.

Afterparty: Chill out song, very good.

Too Many Girls: Another catchy song.

Pu Wah Wah: Catchy song, but annoying music.

KC Tea: Meh... its O.K.

Oh You Didn't Know: One of the first songs I liked on the album, very catchy aswell.

Far Out: Beat of the song is amazing and the vocals are insane, Best of on the album.

Paper: Great song.

Loud: Another song which is in my top 5 of the album.

Need More Angels: Worst song of the album IMO.

Doin It: Meh... nothin special.

What's Yo Psycho: Great song, the chick on this song went hard.

So that's a short opinion on each song of the album. So I still don't understand why TGMP was flamed for being bad, it was really good album, definitely in my Top 5 albums by Tech N9ne.

Thanks for your responses. Peter.

Don't Flame me because of my opinion on certain songs, its my opinion on the album not yours. And NO I'm not trolling.

U will still b flamed, no one cares about anyone elses opinion on here if it isnt the same as theirs, just sayin

I liked it as well, wouldn't be anywhere in my top Tech albums by any means (he's made better) but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good album at all.  I enjoyed listening to it and had a few songs I still listen to.

Songs I liked:
O.G. (possibly my favorite)

FU Pay Me

Jumpin' Jax

What's Next (loved Craig Smith on this one)

Afterparty

Oh You Didn't Know (Irv was awesome)

Far Out

Paper

Loud
Need More Angels (I loved this song)

Didn't care for:
Pow Pow (Liked the hook though)

Harvey Dent

Too Many Girls

Puh Wah Wah

Doin It (hated it)

But I liked enough songs to make it a pretty good album in my mind.

Thanks for the head up :). (Im new to TRTN forums.)

i dont necessarily hate it, but i understand why people do. i thought it had its moments, but overall was not up to my standards of a Tech album (or collabo album for that matter).

OG - wasnt bad, cool summer track

FU Pay Me - Tech & Krizz were good, but i thought Makzilla was horrible on it

Gamer - Meh. Could have been a lot better

Jumpin Jax - Great song

Keep It One Hunit - Solid track

Pow Pow - Weak features, hook was meh, Kutt's effect choice was annoying

Harvey Dent - Great, but too short

What's Next - Nice, chill track

Afterparty - boring hook, and Devin The Dude takes the cake for worst verse on the album

Too Many Girls - 2/3 of it is sick, but Sundae ruins it

Pu Wah Wah - By far the worst 816 Boyz track

KC Tea - Solid, but could have been better since it was basically hyped as the next Caribou Lou

Oh You Didn't Know - Tech and the hook are dope, but i didnt think Irv or The Popper stepped up

Far Out - One of the sicker tracks

Paper - Good verses are ruined by an annoying hook

Loud - Great song overall

Need More Angels - alright sorry but HOW CAN THIS BE YOUR WORST SONG ON THE ALBUM? Great great track

Doin It - I actually liked this track even though like no one else did. It works for a chill beach song

What's Yo Psycho - Well bonus track but watev. Once again, 2/3 sick but another fail by Sundae

so yeah. nowhere near my top 5 albums. and if Tech keeps pumping out collabo albums, it might not even make my top 5 of that catagory

Thanks for the response, I can definitely agree the Devin the Dude verse was the worst on the whole album and regarding Need More Angels, well, I just wasn't felling the vibe from that song.

It wasn't a horrible album just no where near as good as his others. When I heard What's Yo Psycho I had high hopes for it as I'm sure lots of people did. The content just wasn't what I expected it to be. Like I said tho, not a bad album, but it will certainly go down as his worst collabos album.

It is just an album I have to be in the mood for.

K.O.D. and Ollie Gates, IMO, are two extremes of emotions.

I either have to be in a dark mood for K.O.D. or in a light mood for GMP.

I listen to GMP maybe twice a month.

That's a valid point, that is similar to myself, I can't listen to certain albums without being in a certain mood which suites that album.

I don't hate it, but it's definitely my least favorite of all of the Collabos. It had it's moments, Harvey Dent was pretty cool...and Far Out was killer; there was a few, but all together and coming off the heels of K.O.D. (+Lost Scripts of) it was  disappointment.
If you take out Too Many Girls, Afterparty, and What's Next you have a great album but those 3 killed the tempo of the album for me. I still listen to a lot of GMP quite a bit. Far Out is one of my favorites, that track goes hard!
No you are not the only one, I bought it and I enjoyed it as well.
love that CD, I have it memorized.
