BloodStepp, i swear you cannot be that dumb. So you really think thats what Sony is doing? So, instead of just telling their customers that they need to update the firmware, they instead made up a story telling them that the PSN security got hacked and everyones personal data has been exploited? Yeah, cuz that sure wouldnt piss off people more. Dude, think a little harder.

it's been kept under guard so the next time someone uses hacked firmware they can prosecute by law, not just ban, thats why Sony haven't released full reports yet on the situation just dribs and drabs

lol you're missing the point. if Sony was trying to cover something up, they wouldnt use a cover up story that would piss off customers more than they already are. They wouldnt use "oh yeah btw, our servers got hacked and the hacker has accessed your personal information" as a cover up story. A cover story is supposed to make people less pissed off, not more. And a company wouldnt lie about something as serious as identity theft.

Wrong. What happened to sony is their Signature Keys got "hacked" by a group of people, (i wanna say their name was like evenflow team) like.....3-4 months ago. Now, with these keys you can make the device do pretty much whatever you want.

Geohot used those signature keys to make a hack that specifically prevented any piracy of any kind to be used but allowed for custom fireware to be used and recognised by the ps3 as if Sony had made it themselves. So, there's no way that piracy was involved with the 3.55-3.56 firmware updates Sony did not like that the guy who is mainly known for his iPhone jailbreak, jailbroke their device. Legal action was filed again Geohot, both sides went back and forth for awhile about legalities but out of nowhere it was solved outside the courtroom.

The firmware thing was Sony trying over and over to stop all the "hacking" that was going on. Think of it the same way Apple does with the iPhone jailbreaks, they change it over and over but it wouldn't have any effect on stoping it, cause the people cracking it have the signature keys. Them taking the network down is much more worse than what Geohot was doing, someone actually hacked the server side of the network instead of their individual PS3.

Here's my logical thoughts on what went down: Someone didn't like Geohot just giving up the fight and not sticking true to himself, (I'd assume he got paid by Sony to stop) and took matters into their own hands. They did so by doing the thing that would cause the most commotion, go in and look at all the info they can. I would bet that the person/people behind it really doesn't give a damn about the info that was cracked into.

ya mos def need to get socom 4 it blows black ops out the water unless u r a run n gunner, it actually takes skill and teamwork. borderlands is also a good coop game and even solo, gta4 of course, homefront imo isnt too bad i actually enjoyed it more than black ops but socom is out now so they r collecting dust for the most part lol, duke nukem is a must when it comes out, battlefield bad company 2 is a great online game as well mor team based n takes more skill then bo allso, bulletstorm is pretty legit havent got much into the online yet but its jus coop not competitive, hope this helps, whats ur psn n ill add u?

Oh you mean the Playstation network that not only didnt work for like 10 straight days for no reason, but now puts everyones credit card information at risk of being compromised by an outside hacker? Yeah ill stick with my xbox live thanks..

ya it will but thats not til november 2nd, aint much else out there right now gunna keep me busy except socom n duke nukem(if it actually ever releases) and of course the new metal gear solid if it comes out this year
