The concept of "the world" is something the human race created. Regardless, the earth will eventually cease to exist. Not anytime soon, but eventually the planet will no longer be able to sustain any form of life.

When the sun's life ends it will expand passed the earth destroying most of the planets in our solar system. It wont be for a long time though cause the sun is just now at the halfway point in it's life
